Just picked up a 2008 FLHX with 10,000 miles on it. I want to gain some HP and TQ but have a very limited budget. In addition, I am not skilled to perform the repair so I have to rely on M/C repair facilities. Here is one of my options.
96" bored to 103"
10.5 SE H/C forged pistons
SE259 Cams
Manual Compression Release installed on stock heads
SE Air Cleaner and down load
ThunderHeader 2 into 1 exhaust.
The local HD dealer will do work mentioned above for $1700.00 including labor. I am hoping for 100HP and 110TQ.
I spoke to Ron from RC Cycles and he thinks this will work and he will tune.
That seems like a very reasonable price (for a dealership) for what you're getting. If you're going to be riding 2 up and loaded, you may want to consider a less compression and a cam with less duration (more Tq.) than the 259. If you're going solo you should be OK.

Sounds like a good combo & price. That's a pretty big cam (will need HL springs) but not a problem if ya don't mind shifting. I would go with ACRs and supertrapp supermeg but that's just me.
A Harley dealer will charge you top labour rates and only fit Harley parts. A local indy can offer a wider choice of parts and should charge less for labour.
You could always put off making changes for a year, while you look into the possibilities available to you and put away some cash for doing the work.
id go 254E cams and no down load, get a good tuner ex. SE pro street tuner w/auto tune, thunder max etc. the thunder max is top of the line and the most $$$. i have the SEPST on my SG and it works for me. i had $1600 in my build in feb. bought the SE stg2 set up & SEPST with 20% discount and had my dealer do the build. used 255 cams but wish i went with the 254E cams for a little more top end. just my .02 worth and im sure you'll get all kinds of opinions.
xcesshp, i did the same thing to my 08 streetglide. harley's part number in their screamin eagle catalog is hd part number 27544-10, and it works great. i used the vance & hines pro pipe and zippers deeper air filter element though, and it runs "wild *** crazy". that's a good thing though, isn't it? it was for me, a great combo, and the sound, acceleration, and just the feel of it, just really satisfying to know you got a real monster under you. i recently sold it to a good friend and i bought a new roadglide ultra. perhaps it's a sign that i'm getting older. that ain't a bad thing though. good luck. that's a great combo though. lumpy enough to know it ain't your father's oldsmobile anyway.
hi. do you realy have to do this work right now.or part of deal.will ride for 1 season. then you will know what you want.price is not bad.but you use your cylinder.and download is not the best.less compression and different cam are your friend. mrfuji
