Earler this year I had my 2000 Ultra T/C 88 (w/bigbore kit) in the shop and I was talking with one of the mechanics who was installing new intake seals in my bike.
His claim was that intake seals should be replaced after 4 years (or so) due to the facts that the engine temperature was always fluctuating between ambient temperatures and 300+ degrees and that the H-D engines averaged a temp of 284 degrees.
That may be true or untrue, but the newer '96's. 103's and 110's deinitely run much hotter than the 88's.
I just got a 110 in September and at 1,000 miles the stock pipes (and catalytic converter) came off my bike.
Overheating can and will kill an engine and reducing the heat (IMHO) will lengthen the life of an engine and I plan on keeping mine until I'm no longer able to ride.
Too late, hopefully I can still get the discount. I will pm him.
You're covered, your HDF ID is on the deposit you submitted. Its not quite 10%, it's $25 off the $275 standard system price. Thanks, I do appreciate your support.
