Default Can't find neutral

Good evening my friends. My new to me 08 Ultra, I've adjusted the clutch and cable per the manual, but this bike still will not find neutral unless I kill the motor. Any attempts either go into second gear, or back into first. What else do I need to look at?? Primary chain too tight?? Clutch plates worn beyond limits?? When riding it shifts fine. Any other ideas?? Thanks in advance for your help.

You might have too much oil in your primary.

Or clutch adjustment or too light of oil in trans.

Will that do it?? I just got it back on the road today after changing the inner cam bearings and putting on a set of V&H true duals, but I haven't drained and refilled the primary yet. The level appeared to be OK when I pulled the derby cover off to adjust the clutch.

Try using your heel shifter when shifting into neutral. A light tap with your heel should do it

You may want to redue the clutch adjustment, but make sure the engine is cold when you do the adjustment. Follow the HD method from the manual. I am sure you can find the details on line.

Oil in the primary with the bike level...should just cover the bottom lip of the visible clutch pack. I would change the oil in the primary just to ensure that someone has not put oil in there that might contain friction inhibitors or oil that is otherwise not suited for primary use. You should also also check the neutral position sensor and it's connector to ensure all is well there. Be sure you have that clutch adjusted properly.

Look for play in the shift lever. Mine was loose and did the same thing.

Engine was cold when I adjusted it, and if memory serves me correctly, I think I backed it out half a turn. I tried adjusting it to try and fix this problem, but no luck yet. Just annoys me. Why won't it operate like my Sporty and FX where neutral is always easy to find?

The neutral light works fine. This tranny will not go into neutral, As a matter of fact, it's the hardest of my bikes to even try to pop the shifter up to even find neutral when it's running. Nothing easy about it at all.
