Default Exposed High Flow AC filters ?

There has been a lot of discussion about the various types of High Flow air cleaners but I haven't really seen this question answered. How many that have the completely exposed filters are happy with them? While they look really cool I just wander if very many of you find them to be a hassel when your caught in a downpour. Do you pull over and jump off to get your rain sock out? Or do you put your rain sock on if it looks like rain? Or do you say screw it and just keep riding in the rain with your air filter exposed and no rain sock? As always thanks for your comments.

I ran one for about a year on my 09 96" SG. Have a sock but never used it. Just rode -- although I never hit big rain with it on. Came to like the sound of air being drawn into the motor but could not tolerate the splooge/oil the thing allowed to be blown all over my saddle bag. My motor (and/or my riding style of using the engine to brake) is particularly bad, as I lent it to a bud w/ a 103 and he gets almost none. Were it not for the splooge I'd be using it still and ignoring the sock.

I really like my Vance and Hines VO2 naked. And I bought the HD rain sock for it...never used it though and have been in some serious rains with it. Never a problem. Save the money and skip the rain sock.

No rain sock, just ride. Been in a few downpours and no problems yet.

Been running an open AC for years. The two down sides are they get exposed to more dirt and in a heavy down pour the engine lugs and I have had to replace 3 TPS sensors due to water intrusion.

I'd probably just leave it off, but Nevada rain is nothing to be afraid of.

I have a round K&N exposed filter and put a HD rain sock on it for the looks. Love hearing the sound. I don't think it affects any performance. I need to update my sig picture.

I've ridden in many torrential downpours, no sock, no issues. You'd be surprised even in a heavy rain how little water gets there. And the filter is oiled, so water beads off anyway.
