I had an Indy put a new front tire on my bike just last month. I took him the wheel and left it with him while I went across the street for a quick bite to eat. I came back 30 minutes later and they were through with the mounting. I took the wheel home and as I was putting it back on the bike I noticed that there were about 5 long scratches in the OEM aluminum 28 spoke wheel. Evidently they used tire spoons instead of a tire machine and did not use rim protectors. I was so mad I knew if I went back down there I would probably end up killing someone so I just said to hell with them. I ended up spending about 6 hours with a can of mild rubbing compound and a 4 inch cotton buffing wheel on a cordless drill before I got the wheel cleaned up. It was slow work but you can probably get your wheel cleaned up too.
I would still call the service manager and let him know what you found when you unloaded the wheel at home. Be polite and not defensive towards them and alot of times they will try to help you out to keep your business. If you go in head first all matter of factly and making demands they usually lock down"like my dog on a leash".It sucks but it works more times than not.
gonna try to buff them out today i just don't want to deal with the dealerships anymore, like i said i take alot of the blame for not paying attension,i forget those damn glasses all the time, nothing like going to the hardware store and can't see what the hell you 're buying.i guess i don't get pissed off as much as i did when i was younger i would have been up there screaming at them.
Now that iv'e read the updates and see you are taking some blame for forgetting your glasses..Dont be to hard on yourself. I also do it all the time.Forgetful and blind,no way to go thru life. Hope it cleans up for you.Sux though..Live and learn. Biotch is remembering what we have learned!!!! :-)
One reason I change my own. Only one tire was put on mine that I did not put on because I was on a road trip and did not have what I needed to do it. The jerks at Janesvile Wisconsin I thing it was broke my header pipe. My wheels are not chrome so if I get a dig I sand and polish it out. I get more dings from riding then I do from replacing a tire.
stock streetglide wheels they cleaned up somewhat but you can still see some of the marks,O well live & learn,i will tell service manager next time i'm there he's been there along time and seems to be a pretty nice guy,i kinda feel foolish because i don't normaly let stuff like this get by me so easliey.
