What about Race Tech emulators? Yes, they are approx the same cost as the intiminaters but I also have a family member who can get these for me at a reduced cost... http://racetech.com/page/title/H-D%2...mulator%20Kits

A very good choice also, they were the standard until Intiminators came along. The Intiminators incorporate the inertia valve, which allows for a better range of high and low velocity compliance while providing more brake dive resistance; all around better performance without compromise.
I have had touring bikes with progressive springs, progressive springs and gold valves, race-tech springs and gold valves, and now race-tech springs and modded intiminators. Each has been a step up and while I am Ok with the race-tech springs and gold valves in my RK the race-tech springs and modded intiminators setup in my EG is the bomb!
I went with the Race Tech gold emulators and Progressive springs. The front suspension works much better but the front end still needs help. This is what I'm getting after I save more lunch money: http://www.ccesd.us/index.php?main_p...1f81ae522370f2
Progressive has addressed all of the earlier issues they had with the Monotubes and replaced those that were sold. I've got one of the first sets made for the Tri-Glide installed in mine. I could not be happier and the service manager at my stealer was so impressed he bought a set for his own bike. How can you beat a lifetime warranty from a stand up vendor?

Your combo was initially what I was leaning towards. What do you consider "needing help"? So much debate between straight wound/progressive wound springs and how straight is better for the track but progressive better on the roads with cruisers/touring bikes. I wonder how stiff the stock H-D straight wound springs are ??
