I am running into the same problem. I received a price of $300.00 to install 10" apes on my streetglide. I think 300 or 480 is good price. I have heard it is a very big job.

About half way into changing my bars and 8 hours would sound about right to me.
It is a pretty big job.
Especially when you add time fitting the clutch cable and drive by wire.

Can't believe you are handy in the garage and are not going to tackle this yourself. Not only to save money but to be sure it is done right and to have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. I'd never let somebody touch my vehicles.

I did a +2 clutch on mine.

It's a pretty consistent 5 hr gig, add for ABS.

That sounds high. Local HD dealer quoted me 5 hrs to replace bars/cables.

I wound up doing it myself....It took me 8/9 hours to complete.

8 hours sound about right. I did mine myself, but typically, most places will charge more when they find out they are PYO bars. The bends in the bar cause some pains and curse words.

You'll love the 10s. When I came on here about my PYO bar questions, everyone said the same thing - "go with 12s, blah, blah" I'm glad I didn't. I mean, i'm sure I would have loved them too, but I wasn't wanting to get too far above the fairing. As they sit now, pushed as far forward as they will go without hitting my windshield bag and tweeter pods, they are just at level with the top of the fairing. The burning in my upper back/shoulders is gone, and my hands don't go numb - not even on an 8 hour trip to FL or riding through the mountains.

I'm with you on the look. I like it when the grips are at the top of the fairing. I'm doing mine for the sole reason that I'm 6' 5" and when I turn tight, I have to throw my knee out or the grip jams against my knee into the tank. I just want to be able to turn the bike around in the middle of the street without all theses other gyrations. I am going with these. I think they will work out well and are a good price for 1 1/4" bars. https://www.denniskirk.com/santee/ch...prd/597205.sku

I was at my HD shop today and they were putting 13" Bagger Bars on new Ultra. They were just finishing it up. I liked the look and asked how long it takes. Service manager told me it takes them 5 hours. Granted, I'm sure they have done hundreds of them over the years. I'm going to do it myself and with the labor money I save I'll have the inner fairing painted while it's off!
