Maybe it's because my bike is less than a year old, but when I ride I still get a grin from ear to ear. I rode this week, with salt on the roads, it is rare here that i get a chance to ride anymore, but when I do...I do!! Maybe one day my Harley will not be fun anymore, then I will let it sit in the garage all winter.

I have been REAL fortunate I haven't had to fret about salt or sand as we have not had one snow or even flirted with it here in Iowa so far. Yesterday I was out riding again it was low 50's. Sunday I rode 125 miles as it was mid 50's as well. Looking at the forecast, it looks like I may have to put stabil in on a short ride before I work tonight because this is the last day like that I can see as far as the forecast goes out Not complaining though I have squeezed over 300 miles in the last two weeks which is unheard of this time of year!

When did Harley's become pieces of art, not meant to be ridden? I understand the wanna bees and all but if you bought the bike so you could look cool for all your friends at Starbucks, keep it to yourself. Some of us actually ride our motorcycles, imagine that.

Well we don't get a lot(if any) snow here and most cagers can't drive on it so..........I'd rather not put myself into that spot, so I'll wait until it's gone before getting on two wheels among them!

I've ridden my bike 6 times in the last month here in Northern Ontario. Put around 1,000 miles on it.
Got caught on a wet salty road for about fifty miles a coupla weeks back. There were 8 of us and we weren't turning around.
I wasn't crazy about it, but it didn't cross my mind not to ride on it. It was a late November ride and we were all perma smiles.
I used this stuff on it.

A good rinse after that and the bike was sparkling.
My bike isn't a garage queen. I ride it. When it hits 90,000 on the odometer, it'll be gone.

I'm not interested in being the guy at the cemetery that left behind the nicest Harley.

I live in New Hampshire and actually road my bike to work (65 miles one way) Mon. and Tue. this week and weather permitting (no snow) I'll continue to ride. 21,000 this year and 98,000 in 5 years so far. Like most people have stated a good cleaning and your good to go. People are usually surprised I have that many miles because it sure doesn't look like it. My first Harley has treated me well.

You DON'T want to get salt/salt water on your bike (or anything else, for that matter) if you can possibly avoid it. Yes, washing/hosing with fresh water helps, but an ounce of prevention is worth much much more than a pound of cure. If you need proof, just go and inspect the pre-owned bikes at any dealer-you'll INSTANTLY be able to tell those exposed to road salt and not cleaned off even on casual inspection. And yes, I ride all winter, as long as the sun is out, and roads are dry.
