3 feet of snow in Macon,Ga.God, that must have shut the city down for over a week.
I worked for Lockheed in Marietta,Ga. back in the late 80s.We had 5" of snow late January 1986.It shut the town down for 2 days.
Good chance many here where not born, check out the snow of 1973. It was even bad in upper part of Florida.
I grew up working in the autobody repair industry in Ohio. If you think you can ride or drive in the winter conditions there without accumulating salt damage to your vehicle you are mistaken. I don't care if you wash it everyday.
I'm with the OP on this one.
Yes and if you ride really ride your bike gets all sorts of road scares so it you what to keep it brand new park it in the living room. If I was worried about my bike looking new I would have never road to Alaska and back. It took more of a betting in that 10K plus miles then the other 80K miles. To me road scars are a badge of honor. How many here even keep a bike more then 4 or 5 years other then myself? All so do not get near any salt water or you will have the same problem. I bought mine to ride and please me not me please it.
Quite serious! I have worked way too hard to be able to purchase a new 2012 FLHX & put an additional $10,000 of HD Chome & accessories into her.
I plan on keeping her for the rest of my riding days on this planet. If you like driving a rusted, pitted, salt damaged bike thats your issue not mine...I am no trust fund baby....
Yes some chrome them and some ride them not matter the weather. This is my last new Harley and I plain on riding it the rest of my life. Is something rust out I will replace it but I sure will let nothing dictate when I ride but me.
Around 70* here in NJ Monday so me and a few friends took a ride down to Cape May for lunch. About 150mi. round trip. Half way, on the trip down, I noticed salt or slim on the road. I had no choice but to ride through it. I was actually able to watch the rear tire of the bike in front of me kick it back. I wasn't happy about that but the bike will survive and I was thinking what a gift to be able to take a 150mi trip in December without feeling cold!

To each his own my friend. I know one thing I won't be buying a new Harley anytime soon if ever. So this one needs to last me a lifetime. Riding in adverse weather & salt is not in the mix for me or my bike......
today was a rather mild day 50's however the roadways here are encrusted in salt from previous freezing weather. I saw quite a few bikes on the road today & later in the day a shower passed through the area making the roadways wet & salty. Why would anybody ride a $20,000 harley davidson in these conditions.
My bike is a 2012 flhx that i put another $10,000 into, i would not even think of riding it in a salt bath........as long as its not my bike i guess i should not complain.
