I've read quite a few posts about people cutting off the green plug and extending the wires with no problems whatsoever.
As a matter of fact, are you sure you need to extend anything if your only putting 10in bars on? Isn't there sufficient slack on the stock cables in the fairing for bars as high as 12in?

Tip: Do not let the front Brake Resevoir hang upside down when removing from the old bars.
How/why is this an issue?
Does it allow air into the brake lines?
Is there just too much if a chance of scratching paint?

If you let the front brake resevoir hang upside down, it ruins the seal and will start to leak. You will not notice until a few days after you re-install....but it will. I had to replace the gasket in mine due to letting it hang down beside the bike for approx. 8 hours.
