Default Is this right?

I am doing some work to the 2011 Road Glide custom 103". I'll lay it out for you guys, please let me know if my math is right. I am at, and do most of my riding at or above 3500'. Bikerboyz calc puts me at 187 crank comp (at this elev)

Andrewa 54H cams = 0.020 smaller cam base lobe than stock

Jims power glide II lifters set @ 0.100 (0.200 travel) vs stock lifter set @ 0.085 (0.175 travel) = 0.015 differance.

Stock heads ported polished, decked 0.015

0.040 head gasket vs 0.045 stock = 0.005 differance

I want to use non adjustable push rods, as I have had a bad expieriance with broken nut on an adjustable once......and never want that again.

Stock rod lenth + 20 tho for cam diff.
+ 15 tho for lifter diff.
= 0.035 longer

- 15 tho head deck
- 5 tho gasket diff
= 0.020 shorter

0.035 longer
-0.020 shorter
= 0.015 longer push rods req'd

Is this correct???????

Any and all welcome.....thanks

if the new lifters are longer, wouldn't that shorten pushrods?

The new lifters bottom out at 0.200, stock are 0.170

You have to set the rods down into the new lifters an additional 0.015......this would "shorten" the rods, no??????

I'm not being a smart ***.........I'm asking

Thanks for the replies

If your cam got .20 shorter and the lifters are .15 taller, that means only .005 longer pushrods req'd

- 15 tho head deck
- 5 tho gasket diff
= 0.020 shorter
This looks correct

0.005 longer
-0.020 shorter
= 0.015 shorter push rods req'd

Any and all welcome.....thanks
See my corrections (anyone correct me if i am wrong), that means that a stock pushrod will put your plunger down an extra .015 into the lifter. The lifters will compensate for that change, so you can use stock (i always turn my adjustables an extra .015 or so anyway to quiet down the valvetrain).

Odds are your pistons are going to be slightly down in the cylinder. The Big Boyz calculators assume 0 deck. Use a .030 cometic headgasket to make up the compression and you will be within .005 and not need longer pushrods. You will need to check for valve to piston clearance after doing all of these mods.

See my post in the Engine section. Where did you get the .175" OEM lifter travel? OEM lifter travel; all TC lifters AFAIK, have .200" of travel, give or take a few thousandths due to manufacturing/maching tolerances. Lifter travel is not part of the equation. You are also using the full difference in the base circle dimensions and you should only be using half. If you insist on perfect fit pushrods, you would need pushrods that are .010" shorter but .010" is well within the ability of the lifter to accomodate. The stock pushrods will work fine.
