I have the BAL-3S and the Custom Dynamics smoke rear fender tip light. I actually had a car pull up behind me at a light one night and then back up some. Both are good investments in safety.

My BAL-1 failed a couple weeks ago. I went to do a pre-ride check & only the right 2 lights were working. I contacted BAL, and they were very responsive. Turns out BAL has a 5 year warranty. I had bought mine in AUG2011. It also appears to have a failsafe mode, where it drops to 2 of the 4 LEDs when a failure occurs so the rider doesn't lose rear run/brake lights in a bad situation.
I registered it with them, sent it priority USPS on a Tues, and they actually called me to let me know they got it. Got it back with a new gasket (they required the old one to be included) by the next Tues via UPS. Reinstalled and all is good now. Actually noticed that while I rode with the stocker on there, peeps would pull in close @ stops, and with my BAL back on they stay back a lot more often then not. I had forgotten the impact this light has on people behind me.
2thumbs up for their customer service!!! Plus I think the new light is a newer revision, because it seems brighter.
