Fairing model ignition switch/fork lock on a Roadking?
On the winter project list of mine is to see if I can get get a speedo next to the tach on my 09 FLHP. I have a tread going on this here. Assuming that this is possible, one of the challenges is what to do with the console that contains the 5" speedo that would no longer be used. One thing I am investigating is putting a console from a fairing touring model with the pop-up gas cap on it on the bike. If I go this route, my ignition switch would need to move to the position that it is on the fairing models. In looking through the manual I can't make out if this swap would be possible. I believe the RK frame is identical to fairing models including the fork lock mechanism so it would seem that if the RK fork lock was removed, that one could put in its place the ignition switch/fork lock module from a fairing model. Anyone know if this is possible?
If so:
Is the ignition switch wiring including the connector to the switch the same between fairing models and RK? In the manual they look similar.
My thought was to make an extension to the RK wire cluster so that it can reach into the nacelle where it would connect to the ignition, tach, speedo and indicator lights (left, right, neutral, etc.).
THx!
