Default Changing handlebars - Indy or DYI?

Just purchased a set of Khromewerks 2+2 (300516) for my 2010 RKC. I've been thinking about following the outstanding pictorial instructions posted by DrJay, but would have to buy the torque wrenches to complete the job.
I called a local indy that quoted a total price of $140.00 (two hours labor) provided no cable changes are required, which I don't think are needed. He also recommended I have a pair of new grips ready incase he has trouble removing the left grip. I'm thinking $140 is worth the time and frustration that I would put myself through. Any thoughts before I pull the trigger?

If you have any mechanical skill and a shop manual I say go for it. But then again, $140 is very reasonable. It all depends on how much you trust your skills. Have you used this Indy before and what is his reputation like. Good luck.

Everybody whose is going to make a comment is gonna say do it yourself,
but if you are a little apprehensive I would have an indy do it.
There are lots of little parts that my ape size banana grabbers would have difficulty with.

Do it yourself and use the saved money to buy a torque wrench. That way you have the wrench for the next bike project.....which ALWAYS comes along.....TRUST ME!!

I would say try it yourself and if all else fails take it to the indy or ask us questions if you get stuck. I think a RKC would be better than a fairing bike and I have my SG torn apart and have very minimal mechanical skills

Just the 'Estimate' alone makes me apprehensive. It took me closer to ten hours and thats taking my time doing it right. The LAChoppers video of ape swap was all I needed to attempt it......like others have said, if you have reasonable hands on skills do it. There is too many areas they can screw up trying to keep it profitable to take the care thats needed.....its your call, choose carefully.

2 hours is about right if ya aren't running the wires in the bars and don't need a clutch cable and/or throttle wire extension (I think ya may with 2+2s). It is pretty easy to get to the bars on a RK. Need to pull the headlite and clamp cover. Not a hard job but if ya aren't comfortable doing it, maybe best left to someone ya trust. Maybe ya have a riding buddy that can help/teach ya?

Those are easy bars to do but I would probably let someone else do it for $140 and I've done a bunch of them myself. I actually like doing that kind of work on MY bike. If you are unsure or just don't feel like it $140 is a fair price.

I like doing it myself and with my buddy on our baggers. My Indy is a friend and do not charge us for labor BUT we prefer to do it ourselves. The actual limit is the engine, maybe one day...
Do it yourself with your buddy, you'll have good and "bad" moments but it will let you know more your bike.
