I have a mustang 2 up seat with a harley driver back rest that pushes down between the seats and is the spring loaded type that loads into the fender mounted bracket . I want to go with a solo style seat that will accept the harley back rest and fender hardware, the type where the hardware is hidden and the backrest pushes down into the seat. This is for a 99 RK Any suggestions or pics ?
No it will not work with the HD hardware. I have the same seat and yes it is a C & C. You need to swap out the HD hardware for the bracket that comes with the C & C. The backrest mount in the C & C seat is actually built into the seat. The backrest just shoves right into the seat. It is an easy switch to go from the HD 2-up to the C & C solo. I do it on a regular basis.
I have a Corbin Solo seat as well as a Corbin two up touring seat on my 2007 FLHTC that uses the same backrest that inserts into the seat. Its very easy to insert it into either the rider or passenger section of the seat. Its also easy to store in your saddlebag when not in use.
If you are thinking about a new seat , think about the Corbin. It seems a little firm the first time you sit on one, but after a long ride you will be satisfied with your investment.
Roll Safe !!
Really like my 2 up mustang, but would like to change it up once in awhile when
my wife is not with me. Spoiled with the comfort and looking for the most cost effective and least hassle way to go with a solo and my current backrest that I really like. appreciate all the info.
