If the apes fit and feel good, put 'em on. Don't worry about
the looks. Once in Pigeon Forge, TN, I saw a V Rod with apes.
This guy sure wasn't concerned about looks.
I put on the 10" chubby apes from Wild 1. Very comfortable. Low speed maneuvering takes a little getting used to, but is actually better than the stock bars. Looking back I probably would have gone higher.
I like the looks of apes, but the main consideration was the feel and riding position. The bars I gotare not cheap, but I really like the 1 1/4" inches of chrome. I extended the wiring 7" and put 4" over on the Barnett throttle and idle, 4" over on the Goodridge brake hose, and 3" over on the Barnett clutch cable.

My thoughts exactly.....When I do it, I want to do it right. Plus I want to go stainless cables. I got to get this project right the 1st time.
Every time someone asks about bars for a RoadGlide, I almost always respond... "WideGlide Bars".... Stock cables work, very comfy, "mini-ape"....
I discovered this option when we installed a set on a buddies RK. So..... same answer! WG Bars. Ya may not be able to hide the wires, but you can get it done for about $50 & be back on the road with bars that feel good for 1/2 what ya usually spend at the shop.
