Goodridge works with Barnett and makes hoses with the same finishes as the Barnett cables. Mine are Platinum Series. You will have to order through one of their dealers; they don't sell direct. Even doing all of the installation yourself and buying through a place like M&M Cycle, you can expect to spend around $600 for parts. Yep, you want to make something you like and feel good about.
Every time someone asks about bars for a RoadGlide, I almost always respond... "WideGlide Bars".... Stock cables work, very comfy, "mini-ape"....
I'm getting close to making the change myself. I went to stealer and held up WG bars over my bike.
They seem to be almost the same as stock. Can you tell me in inches where they are different?
As for RK's just about any bars will interchange without changing grips or cables. the cables may not fit perfect but will get the job done for long enough to see if yo like 'em or not. as for the left grip.. a long thin fh screwdriver and a shot of WD work it around and slide it off. or just keep it on there. new rubber grip is $8 from stealer. once you find what fits and is comfy then go for what you want. such as chubbys, internal wiring, braided cables, longer cables, blah blah what ever else you want.
There is nothing worse than tossing some bars on, poppin' for custom cables from barnett, custom brake lines from goodrich, longer control wires and solder shrink tubing, handlrbars on your kitchen table glass of jd tryin' to buffalo the ol' lady that this didnt cost a cent. only to be changing it all two days later cause it feels like crap.
Are you gonna ride it or put it in a photo gallery? Everyone has there own reason for owing a bike. Mine is for the joy of riding. I try to make it look good, too. But at 20grand a year in mileage comfort is very important to me.
98rdking- althought the Wild One website says that you can use the stock cables with the 508's, they don't recommend them. We went with the stock clutch cable length and +2 inches on the brake, idle, and throttle cables. The wiring harness on my '07 was not long enough either, and we ended up splicing 4 inches into it.
