RK High bars...40 bucks, no changing anything and they're comfortable. Perfect for long hauls IMO. I've looked into apes for my RKC, but like everyone points out it's expensive. I usually put apes on just because I'm tall, but someone gave me the high bars for my birthday right after I bought the RK and after about 30 minutes I hopped on and went for a long ride and was amazed at the comfort -- no more upper back pain and shoulder pain from leaning down.

Can you run the wire inside on the RK High bars?

I didn't but I've heard of people doing it. It would take some slight modifying (drilling holes), but I'm sure you could do it. The only reason I didn't do it is because I really didn't want to disassemble everything, disconnecting wires, etc., and I'm not a fanatic of the super clean look as nice as it is.

Yes Hawg, you sure can. Drill 1/2" hole at each of the dimples and two holes at the center bottom (helps to mark center bottom with bars held in place). then connect the two holes at bottom with dremel cutoff about 2" long. Sounds a lot tougher than it is but saves a lot o' cash. A little solder and heatshrink and your out cruising.

Well, of course, it is just my opinion but, I like the looks of the apes on a Road King unless you just get carried away with the height.
I am happy with my 12.5" bars. They feel good and I like the hidden wires, stainless cables and chrome controls. They fit me perfectly.
Just make sure that you look before you leap.

Heritage bars seem to work well for a lot of people,my brother in law had them on his RKC and worked well for him, he's 6'5 about 250.I personally have like the stock bars on my RKC but I'm not as tall as him.

I like the look of the apes on Road Kings. Mine is getting the wild 1 16" apes put on right now. I'll try and get pics when I get the bike home.
