Who is DCP? Best price I found for the Progressive 444 is $455 from Phat Performance. Thinking about the 444. Budget is tight so $$ is a concern.

www.directcycleparts.com (old name was direct harley parts). They list them at $459 but if you call them, they will give you a forum discount. Yup,my budget is also tight as doing front/rear suspension/throttlebody and tune....

I would go with 13"s to try to get some more cornering clearance and possibly more susension travel.
I did try some factory 13's for a few weeks but did not like the way I sat on the bike, or the bike sat.

The Progressive 944-4002-UT are really nice and the new valve stacks are working as promoted. The 4002's have the lighter springs than the "regular" 4020's have. Under 200lbs, lighter load than maximum, and the 4002's is right on. Bigger as well as 2nd person and loaded down more and the 4020's are the ticket from my recent experiences!!!!

Don't really have the budget for Ohlin's or JRI, and have herd good things about Terry Cable and Progressive for a mid priced shock.
If you are not an aggressive rider just go with a set of stock 13" shocks. They are fine for cruising and touring especially 2 up. The lower 12" that came stock on Streetglides and Roadglide Customs are notorious for riding rough and not being adequate for 2 up riding. They are available everywhere cheap. You might even find someone who wants the lower 12s for looks.

That would just like the other touring bikes. You'd get used to it in 20 miles.

If I go the 444 route on my FLHT, I'll probably go with 13.5"'s at the advice of a Progressive tech for even a bit more suspension travel. I'll also be doing my fronts (stock height) with either monotubes or RT springs/emulators .....

Another very happy customer of Howard's here. The fundamental difference when buying from Howard is that you get personal guidance on making a choice, from the range of options he offers, then he custom builds a set for YOU. You are not buying stock shocks in a box off the shelf, but getting them from someone who knows how his shocks works and will ensure they are built and set up just right. That is priceless!

I live in the UK, so paid international freight as well as import taxes for my Ohlins #3#3 and they are still a bargain. You USA-based chaps really should pick up the phone!

I went with Race Tech springs and their emulator valves to lower my '07 RK 1in in front. Did my first test ride yesterday. Handles much better. Did not bottom out like the stock springs. I had already lowered the rear 1in with with a shock spacer.
