I have the Bagger werks kit on my bike.
I bought the last 2012 in stock and it came with it....
My turn signals still cancel themselves, everthing works as normal.
No problems with handling, I can go into a nice sweeper at 70- and come out of it at 90.
Good thing about it being lowerd is the the stock windshield works great, no buffeting and I can hear my radio....
Im 5'11" with 32" inseam.

Awesome, great to hear about the handling. Once I get my seat fiasco in place, I may still need to lower the front 1", which as I'm told will only give me 3/8" of actual rider being lower. No way I'm lowering the rear. Anyone's 2 cents on handling (scraping excessively) with the front 1" lower. I am an aggressive rider...not an ***hole but I like to go hard. Thanks. Dean

I don't think you'll notice any major problems with scraping, etc. however, you will be changing the geometry of your suspension at that point which will affect the overall handling of the bike. If you can avoid doing it, I would. Unless you are going to lower front and rear proportionally to keep the stock rake and trail intact.

I'm hoping to not lower the front. But riding with a prosthetic left leg, I have have the bike fit me perfectly for parking lot maneuvers and stops. Riding is no issue. I can't make the kickstand, and that's my only other mod, which has been taken care of by my dealer . Cool, simple set up, with a hand control. I have a clip of it on YouTube under harley kickstand mod 2, and then mod 1. That was on my fat boy.dean

Understandable. Hopefully you can get by with just the drop seat kit being all that you need. I'll have to check out the youtube video.

I did read through the issues you're having with this thread. I am really looking into this FBI Seat drop after I made some other modifications (seat and front-end lowering kit).

Here is the order I went in...

1st: Customized a stock FLHX 2012 seat with a Super Narrow configuration from Allen @Mean City Cycles so I can share a ride with my wife's bike. - The ride was good and I reached the ground with both feet about 80% of the time depending on the road surface.

2nd: Better Boots with a 1.75" heel (and not ashamed to admit that) - Feet on the ground a bit more but still wanted some control.

3rd: Lowered front forks - Feel on the ground 100% of the time with some added knee bend (though not too much - as I have a 29" inseam. Didn't care so much about the geometry but I felt safer.

PS... Good decision there.

I never thought about it again until I did a demo ride of the 2013 Fatboy Low. The significant knee bend is incredibly comfortable, but I don't want to give up the Touring range and gauges in front of my face (vs. looking down), so I started this excercise again. One guy wants $5,000 complete for the install and painting. I thought that was ridiculously outrageuos but he's done at least 4 bikes (so he says). I called another dealer that offered this as an option last year, but they admitted they never did one before - and I wasn't about to experiment with it on my bike. So, I called Biker's Choice (they distribute the FBI Seat Drop Kit) for a list of dealerships who did this before. Per their information, they gave me Rommel HD and I intent to call them tomorrow.

Just curious, did you get your's done at Rommel in New Castle, DE? They mentioned that the dealer purchased parts a few months ago, and being you're from MD, was curious if you took it there. Last but not least, has the seat issue been resolved?

Did you do this yourself or have someone do this for you? If the latter, who was it?

Thanks in advance folks.

Hey Mike,
I am now an expert on anything related to the FBI drop seat. Here's what happened , what I did, where I'm at and what I recommend. My dealer whom I extremely highly recommend is Chesapeake Harley in Darlington, MD. Ask for Jason in service and mention my name. Did I get the seat issue rectified by FBI or Danny Gray? NO..they completely bailed on me with the seat part. I would only get the frame and side covers from Fatbaggers, seriously. Luckily and I do mean LUCKILY, a local custom upholstery guy who does car seats and MC seats was mentioned to me months ago. I found his number scratched on the back of a card, and in my effort to find any company to mod me a seat while my bike was sitting at the dealer, I called him. This guy, Brad, 27 years old said he could do it and that he's done many a custom MC seat. So with a complete leap of faith, not knowing anything about him, his work, his company....I had him do my seat. He had to go to Chesapeake to fabricate the pan, remember I had nothing at all. Long and short of it, is that this guy customized the most perfect seat for me, he tweaked, cut, shaped, trimmed the fiberglass pan here and there...until I was completely flat footed on the new Street Glide....and we did NOT touch the suspension. It is completely stock...and I am one happy rider. He used high density memory foam, and the seat feels like a temperpedic mattress. Seriously, he nailed it....and as bad as my situation was with the seat that I never got from FBI and Danny Gray, turned out to be a major blessing in disguise. You should absolutely , positively have Brad do your seat, he is "the man". I just saw him today, his seat looks so good that I am having him customize the sissy bar pad to match the seat, do some saddlebag chaps and line my bags. His company is Driven Fabrication and Upholstery, 410-627-4992. I have a 26" inseam and ride with a prosthesis...and I now can handle the SG as easily as my fat boy low. My SG seat after Brad did his thing is a tad LOWER than my fat boy low but the width of the frame makes my feet reach the exact same. I couldn't be happier. 650 miles under my belt in the 9 days since I brought it home. Feel free to call or email me. I'm telling you, the seat is the single most important part of the entire bike, in regard to our vertically challenging scenarios . I would kick out the extra bucks for the custom seat, because fitting yourself on the bike is everything. I did receive a FB message from FBIs marketing guy 3 1/2 weeks after the fact. He apoligized and said my seat situation was handled all wrong and he never knew about it. I thanked him for getting back to me, and strongly expessed how they and mainly Danny Gray did me wrong. He agreed. I got lucky finding this seat guy and have since been recommending him to all my biker friends. its a win win for everyone. I guess I should thank Danny Gray, who has still never returned any calls or emails. Dean

Appreciate the feedback and will give the dealer and this guy a ring.

As an aside... not sure how I posted the same thing twice (another oddity).

I haven't completely read all the trends, but it sounds like it's related to the seat that comes with the FBI kit. I ended up going to Corbin and having a custom seat made for my kit. The Danny Gray burned my butt
