Default Looking for advice...

Well, as the title says, looking for any and all advice about lowering my Electraglide Classic. I am able to get both feet firmly on the ground, but would like to be a little lower to the ground, but don't want to sacrifice on the comfort level it has right now. Noticed that one of the sponsors of this site has kits to lower mine 1-3" at a great price. I also recently installed a quick release detachable tour pack kit, and am looking to buy a different seat to look similar to a EG standard or Streetglide. I know that shorter shocks would lower, but make it ride harder with less suspension travel. Just wondered if anyone here has used the Harley lowering kit, and how they like , or dislike it. Also, would I be wise to buy a Reduced reach seat instead of something like a Stock Road King or StreetGlide Seat ? Once again, Comfort is VERY important to me, as I spend all day on this thing, sometimes . Thanks for any input that you can give. Later, Tim

I use a SG seat and SG shocks, tour pak off in town.

I swap back to stock when touring.

lower bike:

shorter shocks = harsher ride

lowering blocks = possible compromised shock angle, but can retain stock travel

reduced corning clearance

no way around that

there are always trade offs

Buy a pair of timberland pro boots. 1/2" extra height in heel and sole, more padding inside, gives a total of 3/4",

I tried the lowering kit. Couldn't get it off fast enough. I have a St.Glide which has shorter shocks than the other touring bikes. Picked up a pair of used shocks and sent them to a company in Arizona. Gave them the number on shocks and what type my bike is and they shortened them for $180.00. Put in heavier oil and new seals. Rides really well, better than stock I thought. Doesn't bottom out when two up. I love it.

I have been using billet lowering blocks on several bikes for a few years. No problems and like the results. If you get some, just make sure they are one piece, and not the two piece (welded) style.

Here's a link you can look at. Clicky
