With 75mph speeds in Texas, I don't ever feel the need for it or to go faster.

You seem to not understand the law, because the FCC does not regulate LASER, it is in the wavelength of light, not regulated by the FCC. So I state once again they are not illegal in most states, and I will state for the FCC to know I own three of them. I originally was only trying to keep false info from being spread, but some insist on putting it out anyway.

I guess I should have read a little farther, since I now see that MathNerd, replied to your erroneous statement.

I had a Valentine 1, great detector until I got pulled over for Not speeding, first question the police officer asked was did I have a radar detector in the vehicle, second question was is it built in, third was what language I wanted the ticket in. 300 $ later and forfet of the V1 I was on the road. I now use Sailriders plan, they are more hassle then they are worth in Canada.

Wow, good discussion. Thanks for all the posts. I don't intend to speed on regular occasion or extended duration with the intent to reduce travel time. I do however from time to time like to twist the throttle through a banked curve or on a quiet straight stretch of road. I even on occasion like to blow by someone who insists on going 10 mph under the speed limit through all the no passing lanes only to floor it to 10 mph above in the passing lanes. Sometimes I even like to just leapfrog around with a buddy ridding side by side or accelerating hard from a stop. I'm never going to be on some huge interstate highway outside Atlanta or L.A. I don't need to outsmart the 25 year old state trooper in the unmarked Mustang dressed in black military fatigues, sporting some laser speer gadget. I do all my riding on Midwest back country, county roads Where the local deputy is in his mid life with a potbelly, and give a crap attitude to match. He's driving a 15 year old squad with 125,000 miles on it and I would have to assume whatever radar gun he had in his last squad, most likely just left on, till the beeping annoys him to the point where he just shuts it off. So if there is something out there that might give me a few second heads up before Barney Fife gets woke up by his beeping radar, that would be good enough for me.

Nope, just chalked up an erroneous or no reading to the limitations of the device and moved on to the next guy. In 25 years never even heard of anyone busting someone for having a "jammer".

Thanks guys. This is what I expected to hear. My logic says that the harder it is to catch someone doing something wrong, the higher the fine they impose. In other words, since they can't catch you, they'll scare you into not using it.

I may do this one day. They are extremely expensive though. One thing I have going for me now is that I ride a majority of the time and my area has decided to give motorcycles a free pass on speeding. Someone died during a chase and bikes are a small part of the speeding population. It's real nice to ride down the road w/o worrying about a ticket. Who knows how long that will last though. I need a local law officer to tell me when my free pass ends. *LOL*

Do the math on where my insurance rates would be without it. I know of a system that installs a small light in the visor of your helmet that indicates an alert. Because I ride mostly without a helmet, I would never be able to see or hear an alert with the typical setup. Consequently, I can say I don't ride nearly as fast as I drive!
there are options for you it is called a Screamer with the Radar Screamer Visual Alert Option (here) it works great You can go with the Pizo Buzzer and the bright LEDs or just the LEDs by them self no helmet required and there is a great place on the fairing to place it with out drilling any holes I places mine between the speed-o and the tech with Velcro after running the wire between the windshield and the fairing

First off.......you holier than thou do gooders, with the "why do you need to go over 55" horseshit can kiss my ***.
Waaahh, someone drives faster than me, waaaahhhhhh.

Why even respond to This thread in the first place?

Today's speed limits are antiquated,at best, today's vehicles are designed for safety, meaning first and foremost, handling characteristics, including braking and chassis.

Speed limits,to a degree, are not designed with actual safety in mind, rather for how much revenue can we screw Joe citizen out of.

45 mph speed zone on a 4 lane divided highway followed by a 60 mph zone on a two lane road was designed as a speed trap. The limits are arbitrary and I have no doubt local municipalities have a lot of input as to where the limits will be set.

So, why the hell wouldn't you take every precaution possible to protect your wallet from the local revenue chasers? Radar detectors do work. I rarely go more than 9 mph over but, at some point that *** in front of you texting and driving all over the line is going to cause a problem and you may need to get on down the road. There is a place and time to make that move.be aware, look for break lights ahead, look for the usual spots the police like to hide. (Since it's all about safety why do they hide?)

Yes,in Florida, locals still use k band, the state guys still use Ka and the large cities and some state guys have laser.
I also have a distortion tag on the cage so big brother can't read my tags with his cameras. Actually,it's disgusting....and it's a freakin war out there. Big brother is everywhere ,take precautions and be prepared. Just like everything else, at some point the public is going to get fed up and rid this country of constant surveillance and invasion of privacy.

I'd like to find a cellphone jammer to knock out signals around me when I'm riding....
