What a nice story and you must feel very honored. I think it's great that a church group has a common interest that can strengthen the congregation. Will your friends wife continue to be part of the group? Maybe she will ride with you sometimes. Not sure if you are married but if you are I'm sure your wife would understand an occassional ride.
Thanks for the thoughts and kinds words all. As for your question chesterbud, I am married but my wife would have no problem with me taking her on a ride, but she won't ever get on it again, I'm thinkin. She and her man were very much in love, and a hog like that and the trips they took made a connection between them which is kind of sacred, like marriage. I know her well enough to know she really wouldn't want to ride it without him driving it. But when she sees me driving it around town, it brings her a smile. As she put it, "that's the only good thing that came of this."
I have Dyno'd two of those bikes with Rinehart True Duals,SE air cleaner kitand EFI Race Tuner. One made 102.43hp and 107.72 pounds feet, the other 102.19hp and 109.76 pounds feet.
Dyno'd one withSE slip-on's (2006 style) EFI Race Tuner, SE a/c and got 91.44hp and 100.48 pounds feet.
One with Vance & Hines slip-on's (classic style) SE a/c and EFI Race Tuner, 97.01hp and 103.85 pounds feet.
Two baseline stock runs made 88.96hp and 95.75 pounds feet and the other 90.24hp and 94.01 pounds feet.
These all had stock cams andcompression. A good dyno tune and 100hp is within reach. Very little cylinder head messaging and SE 257 cams made 111.02hp and 115.20 pounds feet.
Converted one to a 113 and made 123.08hp and 137.41 pounds feet. This cost around $5g's though. Hope this helps.
Can't help with the upgrades as I am new to the Harley family and reading here to learn all I can. But,I just have to say, that is one great story. Thanks for sharing.
Great story, Pastor Mike, thanks for sharing it! If your friend played his cards right, and it sounds like he died, he is riding the ultimate classic in gloryland! My pastor has a HD custom he built him self last year. Our church has a biker ministry, lots of folks involved, a really uplifting and evangelizing group of folks. Ride Safe,
Mike
Okay, I'm taking the bike into the dealer on Friday for the heated grips and I talked to him about a performance upgrade. He recommends the hd cams, not gear driven but chain. He can put them on for around 800 bucks and I'll get over 100 torque and mid 90s hp. I think that sounds pretty good. What do you think of that idea?
