Sorry, but 45-50 is not cold at all. Heated grips great with temps until they hit freezing, then the gloves beat them hand down.

For spring, summer, and fall all I need are the heated grips, but come winter I have the heated gloves in the box.

I said "cool", 45-50 is cool. I've used my heated grips into the teens with no problems at all. With a decent glove, the heat radiates nicely inside. Including the top of my hand.

I could possibly agree with this as I haven't used heated grips on a bike without a fairing.

Again, if you bothered to read the post I said, "cool". It's nice riding without gloves of any kind on a cool day with the grips turned on. But that's just me. The warmth soothes the old bones.

Used my heated gloves for the first time today. 27 degrees out. Never had heated grips and still wont as i wanted Performance Machine renthal grips. All I can say is if its somewhat cold out these will be in my saddlebags. They worked awsome. Can't say enough good about them.

Bear with me as I'm totally ignorant about heated clothing/gloves. What is involved in rigging the bike for heated gear? Aux power?

Wire straight to battery. Plug will come out from under your seat somewhere (your choice). When not using it tuck the plug under the seat and it's as if it was never there. There are people that have gotten more creative.

It gets down to the mid 30's where I am. I appreciate the feedback. I am going to look into G3's. my only concern is being tethered.

Generally agree with folks above except I guess us southerners are cold blooded. I have both grips and gloves for my Limited and I'm fine with just heated grips down into the mid-upper 30's. I'll break out the heated gloves for anything below mid 30's. I also love the convienience of the heated grip with just a small setting dial on the end of the grip. Use just the grips frequently in 40-50's morning/evening temps with my normal gloves. Have not had any trouble out of my Limited's heated grips but do not run them above about 3-5 normally.

Default Heated grips

I've got both and that is the best of both worlds. I am really interested in hearing from those of you that have had the heated grips fail.

I've had mine for two seasons now and had no problems with them. I think the grips have the potential to burn themselves out. I very seldom turn the grips on to 3. Most of the time I set them at 2.

For those of you that have had heated grips fail, did you routinely set them at 4 or 5? I'm wondering if that is the cause of the failure.

Same question for me, anyone with the failure care to chime in? I ride with both grips and gloves turned on when needed. Very warm and never need the grips on above 3. Extend your riding season, GET HEATED! BE WARM, BE COMFORTABLE!

I can't tell you about failures, but I had a set last over 10 years that were routinely set to 5. I lived in Fargo back then. Hard to say what the cumulative time that high was, but I used those grips a lot.
