Question Screamin Eagle Street Tuner

Ok, I was going to have the dealer re-flash my ECM for my air cleaner and slip-ons. They get $150 for the download and 1/2 labor, so $200. I can buy the tuner kit and cables for $300 minus my 10% discount, and have it to play with. My question is does anyone use this system, is it easy to use, is it basically the same tunes the dealer can do? I'm not going crazy, Ventilator air filter and Street Canon slip-ons.

Good question. Considering doing same tuner. Answers will be informative.

Download is a waste of money. And for that kind of money I'd look into the Fuel Moto Micro Tuner - http://www.fuelmotousa.com/site/micro-efi-tuner.html

Great thing is that it uses PC-V maps, which Fuel Moto will give you for the combo on your bike. Change your combo? No prob, get another map from Fuel Moto

$200 - http://www.fuelmotousa.com/harley/fm-011.html

I looked at all the Fuel Moto stuff, but was kinda looking to stay OEM because I don't want any problems if I'm far from home and break down. This bike is going to be doing some travelin.

Larry ... Don't waste you money on the dealer download ... You're probably like most around here ( me included ) and don't want to spend any more jingle than you have to ... However, keep in mind that sooner or later ( probably sooner ) you'll get the bug to change something and further adjustments will have to be made. Check with your dealer and ask him if the learning curve for the SEST is relatively quick ... It's not rocket science however I can understand your apprehension, but I'm sure that you'll get the hang quick ... Hopefully someone will chime in on your post soon ... Good Luck.

biggest misnomer there is.

With the fuel management devices such as PCV, etc. you simply unplug them from the ECM, bring it to the dealer and they're none the wiser.

With the tuning devices (that write to the ECM) such as TTS, PV, etc. you simply write your stock map (that you should have downloaded when first connecting to ECM) back to the ECM, bring it to the dealer and they're none the wiser.

Don't waste your $ on that street tuner or a HD download.

I use the SEST , love it , works real well for me . Have it in a 2010 FLHTK . I just did not buy the cables , had the dealer download the correct map from the SEST for 45.00 . Bike runs great , no issues , all warranted. Check my other posts in reply to this.

Yes you can program it yourself using the SE pro tuner. Using smart tune functions allows to you ride and recorded data then change ecm settings to your riding style. Is it easy to use? Not right out of the box, but with a little homework it can be easy and for me, fun. You can make changes down the road if you swap out pipes or cams or whatever. Start here

Well, you can, sure, but its expensive and not very easy to use. ($450+)

For the same cost as the download, you can get the MicroTuner and free maps for life.

What was hard when you used the super tuner smart tune?
