I am looking for some good advice on all the different cams out there. I dont really understand the diffenent sizes out there, my riding style is usually in the high rpm range. I have a 2005 electra glide with sert, D&D 2into1 fatcat with the se heavy breather. I have reached a piont where i need to get in there and change my tensioner so was figuring on upgrading my cams as well. Have had the T-man 555 tq recommended to me?
Thanks for any suggestions/imput
If you are not going to add compression or new valve springs, stay with a mild duration, and lift no more than .510 . The most important part will be the final tune.
..with an 05, you wouldn't need to add new valve springs..the 05 has the "beehive" springs which can handle higher lift..(04 and earlier Twin Cam's would need a change)...
I agree with the S&S 510 gear drives, I have a set in a 2k Dyna that is stock except exhaust and A/C.. They really woke it up, gained a lot of torque...

Check your runout (should be good) & consider gear drive cams instead of tensioners. After that study cams a while & determine where you want the power. I like .510 lift cams with a good duration & reasonable overlap. If you want power higher up the rpm range you may want good duration & longer overlap. Possibly more lift, but that depends on how much power you need. Cams are an interesting study, & only you can decide what works for you.
I was thinking about doing the same thing on my 2001 FLHTC. When I took it to my Indy, he talked me out of gear drive and the upgraded cam plate. He said gear drive have no give what so ever and unless you are racing for money, it's a waste. I ended up have the cam chain tensioners replaced with stock ones and installed a 261 cams and SE adjustable push rods. All for $650
I looked in the dyno thread and searched under 88ci and got numerous threads with cam changes in the 88 cubic inch. I would fire an email off to Fuelmoto and other builders and ask for advice. Engine is an air pump, so for the best value, get professional advice, do it once and do it right. Lot cheaper and more fun to get it right the first time.
