PC III???
ORIGINAL: gunrunner
PCIII is the reason for slow startup, its a problem that seems to have no correction, funny cause the V&H fuelpak or SERT do not do this, they start right up.

i got on a trial , a pc 3 and the k&n 3909 air filter.
my gas went from 40 mpg when new prior to the recall to 46.5 mpg post recall.
now with the pc3/k&N i am at 35 to 37 mpg.
does it run better,
i honestly cannot tell. but, it does seem to run a little better than post recall and closer to what it ran like when the bike was new pre-903 recall.
and when it starts it requires 3 turns of the starter motor whereas before zero turns pre-recall it just started .peiod.
post recall 1/2 to 1 turn .
and now with pc 3 instead of starting and settling at 975 rpm it goes to 1200 rpm's for a few minutes and then it settles down to 975 or so.
it does have more vibrations coming in thru pegs and seat that did not have before .
and ,i am waiting for the black hole 2 into 1 exhaust to come in and get the pc3 tuned .
i will do this in conn. from a friend who owns a dyno tuining .
we will see

gordo24fan,
Why would your warranty be void? If there is an engine failure that is not cause by the mods you did to the bike the warranty will still be good - thats the law

I agree that what uniondog is saying should absolutely be the way things work. That being said, I know dealers have a way of looking for a way out of paying out on warranties. I think most dealers have received the named stealers for a reason. They really don't give a damn about the customer . They only care about getting their money. I WOULD NOT say what uniondog said is crap, but it IS NOT realistic as I've dealt with stealers on car issues. There may be laws in our favor but dealers know it will cost us more money in most cases to fight them than it would to just pay. Back to the PC III.
My bike with the PCIII starts up after about 3 cranks whereas stock it turned over immediately. It also runs rough in the low RPMs, kind of stumbles when youfirstturn the throttle, and starts popping when it gets hot. I'm suspecting a timing issue but I don't know enough to follow through on that suspicion. I would suggest you get a pro to tune it. I probably will once I have the $$$.
I do miss carbs.

Yes it is. I've heard from quite a few that if you get one pay the extra and bring it to a pro for the tune. That might be (maybe not in all cases) the reason some are having starting issues couple with rough idle. I am a couple months out on pulling the trigger so I will definately be watching this thread as it progresses. Thanks again all and keep the input coming.
Ok guys what about this one?Thundermax auto tune

As far as warranties go i love watching people argue about them. yes, your dealer will try and tell you that your warranty is void if you install ANYTHING! put seatcovers on your car and they will say thats what made your transmission go bad.i used to work at a dealership, i have seen some shady stuff! (shopsupervisor drained oil out of a blown, dead, crap motor and poured it into a car that should have been covered and blamed it on the owners maintenence habits, told them they were 2 quarts low on oil and it was burnt!) so whenever i do mods i basically plan on keeping my old parts, the way i see it, if you put everything back, nobody is the wiser. got 2 rear ends, and an engine replaced on my "nitrous addicted" buddies 03 cobra. two days worth of work,(k-member, long tubes, clutch, supercharger, radiator, heat exchanger.....oh yeah and the slicks! )but it was worth it, thefactories write it all off at the end of the year anyway, when they are lookin for an area to show losses, so they can write the ceo's bigger bonus checks. as far as my warranty goes, i am not worried, i figure worst case senario put the stock air filter back on (20 minutes), put the stock pipes back on (2 hours), and pull the PCIII out (10 minutes) 2.and a half 3 hours and its a stock motor again. to me personally its worthe the afternoon of swapping parts out, if it means that they arent gonna have the oprotunity to try and blame upgrades for a dead motor. Especially when it parts that make the engine work better and cooler!
damn that was a long post......i will write IO U'S to everybody so they can have that five minutes of their life back!
