From previous observations, it would not be unexpected to see any water cooled engines being offered as an upgrade option, like they did with the 103 power pack.
They could offer, mid season in 2014, a water cooled engine for some of their road bikes. If they work out well, and customer feedback is good, they might become standard in 2015.
Give them a chance to work out any buggs, and get production volume up to change over.
It ticks me off that they are dumping the FLHTC.This changes my plan for my next new bike.I guess it was too close in price to the Street Glide. The Ultra has too much stuff on it for me,and priced too high.So I guess my next ride will be a Street Glide with a chopped Tour Pak.
I'm surprised that the RK Classic is on the chopping block too.To my eye it is the model that retains the tradional look of a HD.
Maybe I'm just getting old....lol
Seem's strange to drop the RKC, International bikers dont get the standard RK, only the RKC. They sell well here so what would replace it.......... You can get a street glide in the UK cheeper than an RKC, the street glide is a poor seller here in the UK.
If the RKC is dropped, will that be in the US only, with it continuing in the international field.
What ever happens here in the UK you cant order a HD you get what your given off the dealers floor. My RKC is the only one of its colour in the UK( confirmed by Harley ), most are black which sells well over here.

We will just have to see what happens in August.
from what I heard the FLHRC is only going to stopped in the USA
and not foreign countries ...
My guess is H-D is adjusting production output to sales figures.
I can see them eliminating one of the RK models and also the EG with little or no damage to overall sales.
On the RK's, I think it would probably make sense to keep the Classic, mainly for the leather bags (even though I prefer the hardbags) and where the owner can easily remove the windshield for "cool" riding!
Almost all of the Japanese motorcycle manufacturere make a bike that is intended to look like the Road King Classic--windshield, leather wrapped bags, etc. So it is hard to see the MoCo abandoning that market segment. (Consisting of old farts like me that don't like fairings and plastic bags.) But since 2012, when they moved the RK standard to the 103", there aren't that many (if any) mechanical differences between the RK and the RKC. Even if they don't have two separately named RK models, I'm sure that the leather bags will be an available option for those that want the "classic" look.

And Kurt, your Classic looks great in that purple color.
Someone mentioned at one point on this forum, opinion only of course, that they thought the 120R crate motor was being offered , albeit with no warranty, to let customers ride on it and test them for the moco. If it proves reliable enough, maybe entry into the Screamin Eagle CVO product line. All these ideas about water-cooled engines and an advance in the basic motor design are interesting.
But, having what everyone else has, the desire to build more power as soon as you've finished your last project I'll be waiting for a CVO option with a 120R. If its next year or in 10 years...that will be my next bike.
Until then, I'm more than happy with what I've got...but I can't promise I won't be spending my dollars on aftermarket go fast parts instead of on a new Harley (dear moco...if you build it they will come!!!!)
