Had the 944's in for a couple months now and love them! I recently switched to the standard spring which was free of charge and they are a little plusher for me at 220lb's then the hd springs. either spring worked well for me.
sftdyna do you think there is enough preload in the 944 standard spring for two up riding 180 me, 120 wife with gear?... 90 % riding would be no gear in the bags

Read post #10. Standard Duty springs will probably be best. Your combined weight w/wife and gear is nowhere near maximum payload capacity of your bike which is what the HD springs are designed for.

Hey jet, Im thinking you will be fine. You can always send them back to progressive and ask for the heavier ones if need be! By the way its a no charge setup.
woo hoo, i ordered my 400ut 944's today, well it's late nite, now tuesday 19 march, but monday i ordered them. they are supposed to be in on wednesday. i didn't know that drag specialties owns dennis kirk, but my shocks will be on my new '13 roadglide ultra wednesday night. those stock air shocks belong on a dump truck. i went from 12 psi to 50 in small increments and could not find a sweet spot where they didn't top out or bottom out. this purchase is due to threads like this one. i am so tired of the bike beatin' the crap out of me everytime i hit a bump.

Just put on 75 miles with my new 944's on and it is pretty amazing! They are sweet, I only wish these were out and I had them on my 07 SG.
just wait til you put a few more miles on them! They get better every time i ride with them, well at least for the past 250 miles. Also i havent touched the preload since i set them up the first time! while they do seem to be riding a bit plusher as time goes on the handling is still spot on. Perhaps progressive has found a way we can have our cake and eat it to.
