Default TBW Grips Question

Just installed my 12" monkey bars and realized how crappy my PM grips have held up after a season and a half. So it looks like time to grab some new grips. I know a lot of them are glue on which I really dont want. I like the ones like the PM's that have the set screws. I was looking at the Avon's and some of the Ness grips but I dont know if they are glue on on not. Anyone have any good grips that are not glued on?

Some of the PM grips have replaceable rubber.

I use Avon grips, I wipe the inside of the clutch side grip with some laquer thinner, slip it on the bars and it sticks like it's glued.

So the Avons are glue on it sounds like. How do you get them off if they are not glued, whats holding it on?

Mine dont have an issue with the rubber being worn, its the chrome finish that is worn on the ends.

They supply a grip sheet with the grips but I never used it. Once the laquer thinner dries (you have plenty of time to move the grip to where you want it) the grip is not moving unless you want it too. To remove it, twist it hard and the bond will break.

I used these grips on my V-Rod and now my SG and they have never moved while operating the bike(s).

Got it, I like the Avons and the price on them. I was actually thinking about the ones with the spikes on the ends, I think they would look good with the 12" monkey bars. Not sure though if I am a "spikes" kinda guy though.

If you're referring the the Left/clutch-side grip; most don't require glue. As you know, stock HD is pretty much "glued" @ factory, but every set I swapped so far wasn't glued...I spritz inside with hairspray (shhh - don't tell the wife) and haven't had one break loose yet. I'm betting you can apply this same principle to any aftermarket grip for 09+ bikes...JMO.

Most of Harley's TBW grips are glueless and easy to install. Check the HD part catalog.

I wrap the end with electrical tape then twist on the grip. Never had one come off and twisting the opposite way takes them off. No fighting to get them on or off
