I'm sure this has been addressed numerous times already in one comparison or another but have a new FLHTCU with Rush slip-ons... Picked up a set of 3 1/2" Rhineharts in one of the before Christmas sales but have yet to install them...
Can anyone tell me how they compare to each other in respect to not just how loud they are but just as important the type of sound they produce... That is does one produce deeper or more of a throaty bass sound than the other... Being a Cochlear Implant user I would be better served had I kept the stock exhaust but can't resist that big twin rumble...
Again I apologize for asking what's been asked before but was hoping someone might give me an idea how they stack up head to head...
I've got rush slip ons on my Road King and was really impressed with the sound quality. Not too loud, but a deep rumble. I've heard plenty of Rinehart pipes, but never had a set. What I've read tho is the 3.5" mufflers have more of a crack than a rumble as compared to the 4" mufflers. Again, this is just what I've read, no personal experience.
Are you talking tru dual pipes or just mufflers?
I know rush has different size baffles, but am not sure about the rhinharts.
Rush does not resist bluing as well as rhineharts.
I have rush my self, but two of my friends have rhineharts. I think the rush give more rumble where the rhineharts have more pop to the exhaust sound. JMHO
Good Luck,
Jim
Totally can add some value here. I had the Reinharts for a while but the noise was not friendly in the morning for my neighbors. The one plus for them was bike night. For me the downside was my ability to listen to music as the note from the exhaust got in the way. I then heard the Rush 3.5" (15302 - Slash Up with 2.25" baffles) pipes and got a set. The plus for is at any cruising speeds the exhaust note does not cause me to turn up the music. You also can swap the baffles which I did from the 2.5 to the 2.25 which made them perfect. Each baffle change up's or lowers the note 3db. Great rumble and nice when you get on them.
I also concurn about the pop of the exhaust. I persoanlly like the rumble more. =)

Had the Rineharts in 3.5 on my 07 SG. I liked them but anyone riding behind me was unhappy camper. Got 4.0s now, much better. Don't know about Rush but I'd advise not to go with the Rineharts in 3.5.
I've had both, and the Rinehart 3.5 only lasted one 1000 mile trip on my bike. OMG they were obnoxious when powering up the hills on the PA turnpike. Like other said, the crack sound is the downside. I took them off as soon as I got home. I run Rush big Louie 4" slash ups now, great rumble but no annoying cracking sound. The 4" Rineharts may be better but lots more $. I'll stick with the Rush Louies, 2.25 baffle
The exhaust is all Vance & Hines Power Duals back to the mufflers...
I agree that it's simple enough to just swap 'em out and try both... Just hate to take the Rhineharts outta the bubble wrap if I was going to sell them... Just thought new in the box is more attractive to the buyer than "slightly used..."
From everyone's input so far it seems the Rush is more what I'm looking for as far as the deeper rumble than the higher pitched crack... Do the larger baffles lower the tone or raise the tone??? Does anyone know what size baffle comes in the Rush stock???
Thanks so much for your honest opinions!!! They really do help!!!
I've had Rinehart 3.5's and now running the Rush 4in Big Louies with 2.25 baffles. (pic below). I'd say that the Rineharts were a bit louder and a bit raspier..... which some folks like. The new Louie's are definitely deeper. But I've also heard the same as others mentioned that the new Rinehart 4 inch are a bit quieter and deeper than the 3.5 predecessor.
I didn't see what year bike you have but you mentioned "new".. In considering sound, you also might want to consider the effect of the CAT... if you have one.
