Default ABS Bearings

How many miles are the ABS bearings good for???My RoadKing has 3000 miles on it but I am about to put a set of Limited wheels on that have 22000 miles on the ABS bearing...should I change them out for new ones???

I really don't think your question can be answered. I changed mine around 25k because I had to replace the other bearing so I replaced them both. I dont think they are the highest quality anyway.

They only need to be replaced when bad. Why waste the money.

I would spin the bearings on your new wheels and judge for yourself. Just use your gloved finger to keep your finger clean. If you feel like they are smooth, I would go with whats already in the new wheels. If you feel any grit or a stiff area of movement, replace them. If your worried about them, just replace them. Cheap insurance. Since you didn't put those miles on the bearings yourself, you will never know just how they were treated. The previous owner might have pressure washed religiously. I have never pressure washed my scoot and if I ever do, I will never get the jet anywhere near the wheel bearings. It's my thought and reasoning that pressure washing might be the cause of bearings crapping out pre-maturely, by forcing water beyond the seals. This is just my opinion, but I bet other educated minds here think the very same thing. My bearings have approximately 50K on them, and every time a wheel comes off I check them.

No there aren't, the ABS bearings seem to hold up better than the non ABS ones, I'd agree with TT & say if they feel good leave them alone & check at every tire change.

I have ABS on my '08 RK and I changed my front wheel bearings at around 75,000 miles. Only one side had any movement at that time. I have 93,000 on my rear bearings and they are still fine. I will change them out in a month or so when I get a new rear tire.
I know a lot of people here have had to change theirs out way sooner than mine.

48K on mine and they are still fine, no problems.
Like sporacer said, why replace if they are not bad. I understand preventive maintenance, but with periodic checks when your are cleaning the bike you will be able to tell when one is starting to go.
