I bought an 05 Ultra, and have notsold an 04 Road King yet.
Ultra has pwr commander, and Reinhart true duals, Road King has pwr commander, and stock pipes.
Ultra went in for service, so got back on the RK.
The RK seems to have much more torque and power than the Ultra. Bothtuned by sameshop.
Is it the true duals,or the extra weight, or ?
May have to go for the 95" kit for the Ultra.
Your Ultra is carrying a little more weight. Also, the stock headers on the Road King are probably providing a little more torque in the lower rpms. Add those two factors together and there is your difference. 95" may give you what you are looking for on your Ultra as long as you don't go overboard on the cam and get the headwork to match it. Small cam = better low rpms.
I did the 95 CI on my Ultra. DO NOT BUY THE KIT... IT SUCKS!!! You won't get ANY power out of it. I bought the jugs, SE forged pistons (cast are in the kit),SE 251 cams (kit cams suck) and SE ported heads. It hasPCIII, V&H true duals, Kerker slip-on's. I'm getting 99.4 torque and 96 HP. There is a shop that is telling me they can get up to 120 HP out of a 95CI. They take the stock head and re-work it, and MAKE a cam to fit the configuration. I'm going to check into that. I wish I would have gone ahead and spent a little more at the time to go up to a 113 CI.Mine comes on strong at 4000 RPM, but I would like more power in the cruising range of 2,000-2,500 RPM.

It has alittle to do with both. Duals will take alittle low end TQ away, but give you more HP up higher in the RPM.Plus the over weigh of the Ultra over the Road King would feel more like riding 2up on the Road King.
Thanks for the replies. Pretty much what I had expected.I really like the performance of the RK. It helped me make up my mind to go for more power. It certainly is addicting.
Remember, too, you are hauling that trunk, hard pods, and a huge bitch seat...and those all drag on helluva lot of air! I stripped my 05 Ultra down and ran sans trunk and pods and seat and the thing had lots more ooomph! It's a trade off for the luxury.
