Default Wig Wags- would they be worth doing?

I would like some opinions on whether or not this idea is "doable" and what if any repercussions might come from LEO for having & using this set up?

After being involved with close calls of my own, reading of close calls or accidents on the Forum or hearing from fellow riders who have had similar incidents of cagers pulling out in front of them- I am wondering about trying to install something to help being seen.

I am thinking about putting some driving lights on my engine crash bar and wiring into them a Wig-Wag modulator that could be activated by a handlebar switch. So that when you approached an intersection, or you see someone who looks like their going to pull out in front of you, you could hit the switch & get these driving lights to wig wag for a short burst to hopefully be seen & avoid an accident. I have seen a Wig-Wag modulator for brake lights, so I'm thinking it could maybe be wired up to a switch on the bars and achieve the same effect- wig-wagging the driving lights instead.
Thanks for your input!

I use the built in "Wig Wag", or better known as the High Beam / Low beam switch.
PS: its on the left handlebar switch housing.

Just buy a headlight modulator, and wire it into your driving lights. Most of them come with a bypass switch.

Go with the modulator. I've had one on my last 3 bikes and it does help you get noticed. You still have to be on the alert but I feel a lot safer with it. Works on high beam so you can turn it off by going to low beam if you want. Easy install.

Gee thanks- never would have thought of that?
I run my LED headlight always on high beam during the day. Looking for some additional visibility coming into intersections, beyond flashing the high beam. But thanks anyways.

I'd recommend Radiantz front signal led's with drugz technolgy if you still have stockers. As far as being seen, check http://www.rigidindustries.com "A" series led's. It is very small and can be mounted on your crash bar, say at a 20 degree angle.( check pages 66-69 for the tube mount) Either make it running or turn signal.Youcan can light that sucker up like a christmas tree and still get hit...there's nothing that beats good defensive driving technique/tactics.

Assuming the 'wig-wag' you suggest is technically possible, it seems almost certain that if you use it while a LEO is around you will be stopped and at a minimum told to disconnect it or given a citation. Most states prohibit any kind of lighting that mimics emergency vehicles and while yours wouldn't be colored lights am pretty sure they would draw the wrong attention from LEO's (and some of the b___heads you flashed who would try to report you). As with all things YMMV.
Cheers

If you are riding defensively and see a situation where someone might do something stupid, your best bet is to adjust your speed and or trajectory to not be there when they do. And by your admission, you will have to perceive the problem before you encounter it, in order to engage the lights. Seems superflous to me.

I've seen quite a few sport touring type bikes that have passing lamps. I think they hold a botton on the bars like you're suggesting, and it toggles the high/low beams until you let off.

Nice to know someone has a since of humor.

Seriously, I was just thinking about being on the other side of those lights and being distracted by them while making a turn.
They could be more of a hindrance than a help.

My riding buddy had the headlight modulator and it seemed to work for him. He never had a T-bone or a head on accident.
