Yesterday I started pulling wire in my new 10" MBB and had issues with the TBW so today I went and bought the SE TBW. Problem solved as far as that goes. Got the TBW in no problem went to pull the hand controls and got stuck 3/4 the way though when the pull wire came out. So I pulled the wires back out and it tore through the heat shrink and two layers of electical tape and damage wires. I am through with this but dont have the money or know of anyone who could do it. Any ideas? There is no way I can even attempt this at this point.
Have you tried using any lubricant on the wiring? The wires got damaged from being pulled back out, most likely.
You really need to use the push/pull method too, to get the wiring over that upper point. If you have heat shrink on the wires, do not shrink it all the way down. It becomes to rigid at that point.

Walk away from it for a day or two, calm down and start fresh in a few days. What tore the wires up? Next time, don't use a metal wire (if that's what you used) but some heavy duty but thin nylon twine. Wrap it around the wire bundle tightly and secure it with some gorilla tape or something else strong. Maybe coat the inside of the bars with some silicone spray to help the pull. Slow & steady and like the OP stated push and pull.
Im not saying I know everything but have read over numerous posts, watched videos and seem to be using every method. In one hour using push pull method with lube thats where I got. Mind you I have been working on this since yesterday. I just cant do it. I am mechanically inclined but not super man and dont have any more patients.
Hey your knee deep in it now try cutting the wires back spllicing and shrink tape again and use some liquid dish soap or what electritions use called bear grease your problem is the wire getting stuck so grease that baby up and see what happens.....heat shrink tape should be all you need after you splice the more tape the more it will get stuck......good luck
Did you try rubbing some lube along the harness to help it slide along. If it got stuck & tore the shrink & tubing I would think there is some kind of issue inside the bar that shouldn't be there!
Sounds horrible, I will probably attempt TBW at some point & will keep your issues in mind.
Good luck!
Don't give up! Pulling the wires out is a lot harder than running them. Causes more damage too. (Ask me how I know) Lube the heck out of the bars. I used Silicone spray. Only thing I can think of that you've done wrong, is that you should have run wires and TBW at the same time. Most people say they have run them at the exact same time and if there are extensions that they stagger them so it all doesn't go past the extreme bend at the same time. There is one thing I did that nobody else has. (That I know of anyway) I actually ran the wires AND TBW through the full length heatshrink tubing at the same time. Didn't heat it up at all. At the end I heat it up, flattened it, doubled it over three times, and made a hole (hole punch), that I tied the nylon string to to pull the wire. Do that push/pull thing till the cows come home. It will seem you are making no progress at all, but it will eventually come out the other end.
step away, relax and breathe. it is frustrating if you think it needs to be done right now with no problems...never happens that way. i had to step away a couple of nights and just try it later.
lube the sh!+ out of it with that clear condiut lube. also...i had some luck of doing them one or two at a time as opposed to pulling the whole bunch through at once.
visualize where the wire is inside there in correlation to other already pulled through .. ie am i pulling under a pile or over a pile.....BE THE WIRE, DANNY!
