Diamond in the rough!!! Saving a FLHPI
so today was great, obviously got the bike running again. finished up converting the foot controls to work. got all the new exhaust on, changed the oil and fired her up. still have to change the primary oil, install new front brake calipers when they arrive, and buff the bags and side covers. but we're almost done!
for the newer foot controls, the floor boards are a direct bolt on, no issue. the small issue is the brake pedal as the newer bikes have the opposite setup for where it engages the brake master cylinder. pics will do the talking.
notice the mounting point where it connects to the master cylinder

also the height of the pin placement is too high

lucky for us you can just cut that extra tab right off and the offset is correct. just be sure to cover that bare metal with paint. you can also cut down the top portion so it doesn't stick out above, but i didn't want to damage the chrome on the visible side of the pedal

here is the pedal set in while marking the hole location to make it work

drilled

now just install with the rest of your foot controls. don't forget your harley goodies floor board extensions!! (shameless plug, these things are the best bang for the buck)

got the 08 exhaust installed. also picked up the o2 sensor bung plugs put in and we're ready to rock

DID I MENTION THAT CFR MUFFLERS ARE AMAZING? haha, can't believe how happy i am with the sound. mind blown!
no clue, but it's probably kuryakyn as that is what the front signals are and they match the rear. only advice is check out their site and see if you like em. but that being said, the front right signal was loose at the housing lense. one little touch and it fell off. i have to replace the lense. but they don't sell just the plastic lense. so i have to pay 40 bucks for a pair of lenses and covers. that's BS considering i only need the plastic insert which is removable. one of the three tabs that secure it broke, but apparently the whole thing is garbage now.

well the king is back on the road! spent the last couple days doing some wrench turning. got the new calipers on and bled the brakes. the the rear tire aligned properly and don't have the belt rubbing anymore. wrapped up the rest of the misc stuff.
took it around the block once, then a few times and re-checked everything. found that the throttle cables were binding up with the way they were routed when turning sharp right, so re-did that. then realized i forgot to check tire pressure. was really low and fixed that. put some gas in and ran around for a few miles just putting it through the paces.
still have to polish the paint on the bags and side covers. and hit up some of the chrome spots that got a few greasy hand prints during assembly. but i've got plenty of time for that.
bike rides great and i'm super happy with the turn out. and it sounds amazing. here's a few sneak peek photos for now. i'll charge up the good camera and get some video this weekend. i have the advanced riders course schedule for thursday (hence the rush) but there's a good chance of rain so we'll see. but i'll definately get it out this weekend and enjoy some cruising and fixing any other issues that come up
thanks
mike
