The general consensus is the the '07s run hot, and can benefit from a fuel management adjustment, even when stock. Some say you can change pipes, nobody I know says you can change air cleaner without remapping.
Yep I agree, I would add that any fuel management you select for an 07 should retain the O2 sensors. While they run hotthis doesn't not seem to effectreliability. It becomes more of a personal preference.
We spend several months over 90 degrees, and 20-30 days over 100. Hot is bad, very bad....
I have an 07 SG with the latest HD ECM download...stock air filter & ECM at this point.
I put on a set of old Kerkers I had laying around just to see...at the same time I put in a set of colder NGK plugs. Ive ridden 200 miles now, did several plug checks and the color band looks a bit better ( a tad darker ) than the original HD plug set up w/ stock mufflers.
I will admit that I havent ridden in temps higher than 60 so that will help in keeping the motor temps down. I dont think it would be a good idea to use this set-up with the hotter summer temps of 90+. But for now, it runs & works just fine.
If an 07 SG goes base for $18,295.00 and for 5 to 10% more you could do pipes, a/c and ecm....might be worth doing it. I did my own on my 05 RK and really wish I had done it sooner. Not knowing your wrenching skills, you could save some install dollars by doing it yourself. Obviously, I'd check your stealers feelings on warranty.
Nice. That is why I absolutely despise dealers. If you jack around with the air cleaners/exhaust, ya really should work on the fuel management system.
I recommend you do some research and find a reliable independent mechanic in your area. You stand a better chance of finding a knowledgeable indy versus a knowledgeable dealership wrench.

he said it wasnt needed on an 07 only the 06. Has anyone added pipes and no tuning?
Wow, I hope it didn't get more confusing.
Lots of opinions here, and there all good. Do what you think you should do.
I want my bike to run the best that it can, so I am choosing the a/c upgrade along with a set of slip-ons and a SERT. The reason I am choosing the SERT is for later, when I plan on doing much bigger mods to the engine Good luck with your decision
Here's a quotefrom Mike of Latus H-D (who's answers I respect) off theirwebsite when someone asked about changing just the exhaust on their 07...
"Our testing has shown the need for tuning with other aftermarket exhaust even when used with stock air cleaner. This is based upon the changes we've had to make to SERT maps from the starting base maps. If the stage maps were OK we would not have to make significant changes but that is not the case, significant changes are required."

Just pony up around $800 and call Jamie at Fuelmotousa. Rush slip-ons, PCIII, and K&N or Ness A/C. Map is preloaded. I think its a good bang for the buck. I've gotten alot of compliments with only 325mi. Jus my .02
Before you shoot the messenger, consider these facts.Assuming anengine isin a proper state of tuneandwe add a part that increases power, for a proper state of tune, itnow has to be retuned. If it does not. the part is not doinganything. If an engine disapates a given amount of heat, you add power, it will disapate more heat, unless you richen it up to helpnegate the power. If you don't wantcustom tuning and more heat, stay stock.
