Default Wheel fitment

I have a 2004 Road Glide and I'm wanting to change the wheels on it. I was wondering if I can make wheels from a 08 street glide fit on my bike?
Thanks

So I would probably be better off just buy aftermarket wheels. I'd like to change the size, maybe do a 21 18 or maybe just a 18 18. Any recommendations would be appreciated, I'm new to this changing wheels thing and am trying to gain some knowledge.

If you like SG wheels you can fit the earlier rear. The 08s have a rear wheel with a rubber compensator, the first year that feature was added, which is why it won't fit yours. But the SG was introduced around 2006 and wheels from 06-07 will fit. Later models went from 16" front wheels to 17" then 18", so you have options. There are no SG 18" rear wheels.

Your options for aftermarket wheels are much greater. HDF has at least one wheel specialist as a sponsor, who will probably be happy to help!

Thanks for the advice/input. I have another question that may be dumb, but will a wheel from a 2002 softail fit? I know it would require loosing one front brake which is fine and will require a different set of spacers, but just wondering if it has or could be done?
Thanks

Not sure on the wheel/spacer set up but you shouldnt have to loose the second front brake, there is usually a hub cover plate on the right side (there was on my fatboy), remove the cover and there will be the rotor mounting holes.

Width of the hub will be different between the touring wheel and the softail wheel. I know because I have a softail chrome nine spoke wheel taking up space out in my garage attic that was sent to me by mistake by an ebay seller when I bid on a touring wheel. When I told them that the wheel was wrong they told me to get bent. But thats another story.(if someone would like to purchase said chrome nine spoke chrome wheel lemme know) The hub is narrower on the softail wheel by about a 1/4 in. Could possibly add a spacer on that side to get the rotor back out to where it will line up with the caliper. Or use the softail wheel and lose the right side caliper and change out the master cylinder to a softail master. The width of the bearing faces are the same between the two I think so the axle spacers should be the same(maybe).

(The above in formation is my two cents worth and you get what you pay for)

I have an 02 Deuce rear wheel in my 07 rear end and I know RK riders who have used FatBoy rear wheels. The 1" bearings will fit, but you will need to enlarge the hole between the bearings, to take the larger diameter spacer tube. Softails of that era use 3/4" bearings, but they are the same OD as 1". You should buy a Harley installation kit, which comes with bearings and spacer.

I ended up buying a 18" front wheel off a 2012 road glide, it came with tire rotors and abs bearings. so after doing some research i know that i will have to use the rotors off my current wheels and that i will have to get rid of the abs bearing. my question is should i buy the 25mm axle and spacers from harley and put it on my bike? or is it possible to change the bearing to 1" since they seem to last longer than the 25mm and keep my axle?

you do not have to get rid of the abs bearing unless you want too. IT will work however it is wider that the normal bearings. as to the easist swap, go with the 25 mm axle(nows the time to get a flush fit axle). You do not need to change the spacers. They should fit on the 07 down model year. It is only 08 up that need to be changed. At least that was the outcome when i put a 12 wheel on my 04 road glide. I just changed the rotors and bought a flush fit axle, it bolted right up
