I installed my SE slip on mufflers yesterday and I noticed the left side is able to move about 1/4" [:@]. Is this normal? I tried adding a washer to snug it up, but it didn't want to thread in right so I stopped. Oh this is on an 07 SG btw. I haven't had a chance to change my sig. The right side is fine though, I thought this was alittle odd. Also it's not moving at the clamp but in the rubber mount at the rear.
I'll have to sneak out to the garage and look at mine before I can tell you more. I can't remember the layout off the top of my head. Someone else will probably have the answere before I get that done, but I'll watch the thread and check back in if they don't.
If you tightened up the 2 bolts that hold the flat platewithin the rubber bushing under the saddlebag and it STILL moves.....change the bushing. The rubber bushing will "move"/wiggle a tee tiny bit because it is rubber, but the slip-on should be snug as a bug.
I have the slip-ons on my Ultra and nothing moves.
Just checked again and mine don't move at all, not even a fraction.
I installed the SE performance Slip on's also on my 07 EG, After riding yesterday I was washing the bike and noticed my left side pipe was loose as hell, I could have sworn I toruqued it enough, anyway after tighting it and checking the right side I did notice left side (back) has a fraction of movement, but the right side does not.
theSE IIsi installed on my '06 WG came with a couple of rivets. After carefully reading the instructions, i found that the slip-ons had a small hole in them that the instructions discussed drilling through the exhaust pipe and installing the rivet. Think the only purpose is to prevent them from working loose in the clamp. Noticed that the V&H Ovals were slowly working loose also. So besides using new HD clamps, I also drilled through the slip-ons and exhaust pipe and installed the rivets. Kinda embarrasing when the muffler falls off the bike when you're traveling down the road.
