I just recently installed the HD Agitator air cleaner, and it calls for the removal of the bracket. I already had it removed from a previous install.
I find it amazing that the folks that sell your AC are clueless. Wonder how much they really know about air flow if they can't help you with basic install questions related to a relatively simple product.

I had the pleasure of having to remove that bracket for my FuelMoto stage 1 air cleaner also. After getting nowhere with an Allen wrench or an Allen driver and a ratchet (with the tank propped up) I ended up buying a set of what looks hex bolt head attached to a stubby Allen wrench.
Popped it right on those two Allen bolts and it cleared the top of the bracket so I could unscrew them with a small wrench. With my luck, they probably came out with that redesigned base plate a week later ;-)
