I'd go with the Axtell 107 Re-worked kit, that is a very good price & their quality & reputation is outstanding. That kit includes boring your stock cylinders, or exchange, pistons & gaskets, everything you need for a BB. The 104 kit would require you to split your cases for the HD 4.060 cylinders, which just by themselves cost what the whole 107 kit costs. Give them a call, they are a top notch company that's been around forever.

What you got know 96" or 103"? using the 255's I'd keep comp. stock, comp. on a stock 103 pushes the comp. issue and I do believe it comes in at 9.6 or so on comp. the 255's have a pretty early intake close. I think you'd have a lot of problems with detonation. I've run them in a 103 alot of guys bash them but they are a real good low end cam.I think they are perfect for a 96 which has a little less comp. than a 103 but will work with a real good tune.I would stick with stock flattop pistons if it were me but I'm not a pro just what I've read and experienced. at risk of sounding like I'm tryin to make a sell, I was just gettin ready to put up for sale jugs and pistons for 96" and 103" the stock 103 pistons have about 3000 miles on them. Personally if you are gonna bore 96" to 103" I'd see if you can move the 255's and go 107" with a different set of cams.

I also wouldn't go over stock pistons/compression with those cams, especially without compression releases!! I'd just slap the cams in your 96 and see what ya think. Those 7/11 cubes may get ya 5-10% more but for the labor and money??? Ya may find Ya want more than those cams and match pistons/heads to bigger cams.

yep....255's are not good with high compression pistons...need for example least 257 CAMs and you need to make sure if you use hi lift cams (which the 255 is not) that you have beehive springs. Also if you do go with HC pistons...be carefull about listening to the party line about using .030 head gaskets....there could be a clearence issue especially if you use tubbed HC pistons. Also compression releases at 103 with HC pisotns is a must. Besty will not turn over with out them. been there done that.

The 255 cams are .556 lift and the 257 are .569 Either cam requires the Beehive springs. You are right about the compression being too high at over 10 to 1 for the 255. You would also need the compression releases for it. The 257 listed in SE catalog only works in bikes up to 2006 and 2005 Dyna. It evidently has the small cam journals. I don't know the year model, but either the 204 or 203 would work without the compression releases or the 211 if you want to go a little hotter and less torque than the others.

The SE255 cams will do just fine with stock head work including valve springs.
You really do not have to add the cam plate with the 255's, helpful, not so sure.
The main thing is replacing the lifters
The 255 are for mild compression, not high compression.
personally I think you would like the 204's a lot better. Good torque and really good mid-range.
