Default Stereo Fixed

So, in the past couple of weeks the sound on the stereo on my 2010 Ultra would cut out while riding. If I turned it of and back on again it would work and then after a while cut out again. Called the dealer and the service writer said it could be the HK unit which could be swapped out for a returned one. He also said that they had found that in some cases it is the speaker switch on the fairing cap and the next time it happened cycle the switch and see if they come back on.

Next time out of course it happened again and sure enough cycled the switch and they came back on. New switch was $89 vs. $350 for a refurbed HK. When I took it in today he told me that they normally would do some minor trouble shooting and them just swap out the head unit as most are still under warranty. They had a Japanese guy working there for some reason for a while that spent 3 hrs. Tracing it out and found the speaker switch at fault on a customers bike.

I have read in several other threads about people having this problem that keeps re-occurring after several HK swaps. Hope this info helps some one else out.

After I replaced my battery my radio would cut out but it was very brief and came back on.It was to constant to be a switch so got to looking in the owners manual and found out the radio has to be reset after the battery is disconected.Did not know that.

Well, so much for that being the fix! Wife and I left for about a 300 mile ride today and twenty minutes in....you guessed it, same issue. This time the red key light came on also. Turned around went to the dealer and so now they get it Monday to start tracing the issue.
