Transmission vent line. I'd double check your trans fluid level and if its good, I wouldn't worry.

When you go to check the oil level make sure the bike is upright and the **** is resting on the threads when inserted into the transmission fill hole.
Hope that makes sense ...as you said your new to Harley...

That oil under your bike may be the dribble they spilled all over your front end when they removed the old oil filter.

Size of a dinner plate is fairly large. If its been sitting for a couple months and just puked out that much oil when you started it up, you can probably rule out leftover spill from the oil change. Sounds to me like an over-fill.

It happens... Buddy of mine had his bike at HD for fluids, there was a miss-communication between two techs. The guy finishing the bike and filling the fluids thought the trans was dry, and double filled it. Bike puked oil all over the parking lot out of that vent line.
