Default Passing Lamp Bulbs - Any alternative to the spendy HD bulbs?

Smooth rides and less than 600 miles on 2012 EG LTD and already have a bulb failure. Found the HD bulbs at a dealer for $16 each. Not sure if this is the typical HD high price markup or reasonable. Any good less expensive alternatives that members have found? NAPA, Autozone, Schucks, ...?

I got #881's from advance auto. I had to order them but they had them the next day.

there are a few alternative bulbs- in general the higher the wattage the shorter the life- sylvania or phillips will do better than non-name brands.

do a little shopping at the auto parts store.

( I have a list of cross reference (incl. #881) bulbs at home in my manual- but I'm in Australia at the moment)

if you have re-occuring bulb failure in same location, that indicates a bad ground connection.

Are they not covered by warranty?

I found and purchased the GE 898 bulbs. The specs are:

I'm wondering if the 898 bulb is the same color temp as the 881L?I don't see a spec for that on the GE site.

I could not tell any difference. No blue or yellow tint, just brighter due to higher candle power. JMO

Thanks for all the help. Couldn't find the GEs locally but did find the NAPA 881 for $9. That being said, I still plan to stay on the lookout for the GE881L as the "long life" is appealing and I don't know how well the NAPAs will fare.

I've used yellow 37w yellow bulbs with good success. That said, I recently spent the $$ on some Phase 6 LED's because the difference is quite honestly, like night and day. Phase 7 are the newer style but the Phase 6 is more noticeable in the daylight..
