I'm a new HD owner and I am torn between keeping the true duals look on my new street glide and the 2 into 1 performance pipe. Which way should I go? I like the thunder header 2-1 and the thunder header true duals. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
If you're torn between the two it either doesn't matter or you don't have enough information to make what you feel is an informed decision. I think they are both good choices.
Performance gains over stock is noticeable with either option when a common Stage1 is done, but don't expect neck-snapping throttle response - that takes a lot more money.
I would recommend calling FuelMoto and explaining what results you are looking for. They can guide you with good info from a professional stance. I say this from my own experiences with them... good folks!
I just installed V&H pro-pipe on my RG and it's a big difference from stock decatted header and slip ons. I like the looks of the 2 pipes but this thing is badass.
For the best of both worlds give the Cobra Power Port Duals a look.
On sale for only $330.00 from Dennis Kirk.
I'm pairing them up with 4" Rineharts and the Cobra Power Pro Fi2000 tuner, from my research this should be a very good combo, we shall see in about a week.
Since you mentioned Thunderheaders either way, I would stick with Thunderheader. I don't think you will feel much difference between the two unless you are doing more than a Stage 1 download with a high flow air filter. You will get slightly more low end torque with the 2 into 1 over the true duals. Both Thunderheader systems sound awesome. I have the TH 2 into 1 with a Screaming Eagle air cleaner and Stage 1 download and I am very pleased with the performance and the sound. Other riders won't be asking you what exhaust you are running because most all Harley riders recognize the Thunderheader. If you like loud, but not obnoxious, you will love the Thunderheader.
