i have a friend at work that wants to sell me his hard bags off his 2005 electraglide standard. he took off the hard ware. but wants to sell them to me for 200.00 dollars. they are in excellent shape . my question is would they fit my 2011 road king classic. ? thanks
I doubt you will have a problem. They haven't changed the bags in years. I took bags from an 08 UC and mounted them on my 06 RKC. Not a single problem.

Yeah, all the hardware ain't cheap. A set of locks alone keyed to the bike is going to cost you 50 bucks. And somewhere between $250 and $350 for the rest. And then there is paint. I found a set on CL complete for $400 and then had them painted.

$200 seems to be the average going price for take off bags with out the lids or hardware these days. I found a set on Ebay with the hardware and lids for $450 back in January and painted them to match ... if you shop around you can find much better deals.
You must know someone else who has hard bags on a touring bike. Just look at them and decide for yourself how complicated it is. You might decide that it is very simple. You shouldn't have any issues. Be confident. I've seen lots of HD mechanics that weren't that impressive, way short of genius.
