Bottom line is your the the little guy on the road. You weren't at fault but in a school zone you may have paid a little more attention. Your insurance will pay to get your bike fixed and collect from her insurance. I doubt there is any reason to get a mouthpiece. Some of you all are too ready to involve the courts. Jeeze it was an accident for petes sake. And calling an ambulance really cracks me up. I better be unconscious if I get a ride in one. Walk it off for chrisakes.

At the time I asked for an ambulance to be called, I had no idea where I was bleeding from of if I hit my head. My fuel tank had blood running all over it. Hind site is 20/20 so I am sure I could have done something diffrent. It was a school zone, but on a Saturday morning, not a school day in this area. Of course it was an accident, and a preventably one, had she used her signal, or I maintained a very very large distance between us. So gonna chalk this up as a lesson learned. As far as an attorney goes, her insurance adjustor will dictate that. I have no desire to make some scumbag who hasn't suffered a moment any money. He is coming to see me tommorow morning. The facts are not in dispute from what he explained to me, and my insurance company will make sure I get what I should.

A few questions, not judging. You have louder than stock pipes? Modulating headlight or riding with brights? I would consider a FF too.
Make sure you don't have any numbness or dental issues? I know of a guy who thought he was okay, but broke his teeth internally, above the gum line.
My pipes are loud but not to loud. People know I am there, but not obnoxious. I always ride with my passing lamps on, and maintain a position where I can see the drivers face in there side mirror, as well as a veiw of there rear view. Thank you for the advice, I will keep those medical things in mind a long with the disfigured lip. Sometimes I do ride with a FF, just today I grabed the half helmet off the shelf.
Very glad you both are OK. Sounds like you handed it like a professional. They make you, your wife and the bike whole and all is good. Any game playing then set the dogs on them...
Ps It's bone head cager stuff like that, you see it almost every day!!!, that keeps me wearing a decent helmet...I have more Guinness to drink...
Glad you and the wife are ok, keep us posted with the repairs. They may trash the frame if the tab was bent on the engine guard. Good luck. Also mental anguish for scars has alot of different views, alot of guys think they are cool but if that was the wifes lip, things could go south real quick. Some people have a mental breakdown and consider a scar a huge disfigurement. Again, glad you are the misses are fine.
Looked at your pictures. Looking like you will have a nasty little scar. You really need to talk to a lawyer. Yon need to be compensated for that. Good luck with the bike as well.
Your damage looks a lot like my accident. Bent tab for the engine guard meant a frame up replacement. Total damage around 12k and 5 months in down time...painted parts.
Gotta chime in on this.....having 65 trips around the sun, I've had several wrecks in my life and had to deal with insurance adjusters n several occasions. They care about only ONE thing: Keeping the bill as low as possible. Here's my advice. Under no circumstances agree with their initial offer. You don't know how you'll heal. That wound might become infected, there might be dental issues. A lawyer might not be needed to jack up their offer, but if you play the game right, you can milk them for maximum $$$$'s even if you deside you don't need any work done on your face. That adjuster as considerable leeway. He wants to finalize your case, I's certain he'll come back with more money the second or third time he meets with you. Hold your water, then take the extra bucks and treat your lady and yourself to the nice vacation you got ripped out of later.
The last adjuster I dealt with came back the third time with his "final offer" to me and pulled a check out of his briefcase. He told me if I didn't accept it, my case would be referred to their legal staff. When I told him to pound sand, he pulled out a second check for $2,000 more. When I accepted that, he wiped the sweat off his head and left.
