Damn cagers!!
WE ARE VERY THANKFUL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE. IF THE WOMEN WOULD HAVE WAITED ONE FULL SECOND LATER TO TURN SHE WOULD HAVE EASILY HIT US, AND THROWN US FROM THE BIKE.
My wife I and would like to say thank you for everyones encouraging words. This bike is just a bike, and yes it is gonna suck to be without it. But we will grab a rental a few times to make some trips.
Seriously though - they are going to do everything they can to nickel and dime you. Attorneys are soul sucking pariahs, but they know their job.
I've only had to use one once, but their 30% was worth it (30% of total seems standard around here i guess?).
I did the usual, everything that was smudged, let alone scratched was replaced w/ brand new. re-paint is not an option.
Get a repair quote from your local friendly dealer. Explain the issue and ask for a "thorough" quote. Then you can choose to leave some of it if you'd like and use that $ for other upgrades.
The jacket BS and re-paint would have me seeing red. I know it's their job, and while i don't fault the adjuster personally, it's hard not to want to do physical injury to someone for that BS...
Plastic surgery for sure. At least the estimated cost to make YOU whole again! Hell if it's good enough for the bike, why should you have a scar because of some stupid lady who doesn't pay attention?
makes my blood boil a bit. Been through this a couple times and don't let them wear you down. It means longer w/o the bike, but i'd make it worth the extra effort and time.
Best of luck and let us know how it works out!
Am I an expert? Well, I have about 50 years on motorcycles & haven't hit a car (or anything else) yet.
I don't believe I called you a liar, but you are pretty sensitive. I know, you posted this to show how bad that other driver treated you, & to gather the sympathy you feel you deserve for your disfiguring split lip, but let's be honest. You hit a vehicle in front of you! Yeah, yeah, it *looked* like she was pullin' over so you could just "assume" you had room to go ahead & zoom on around. Well, how'd that work for you?
Get annoyed that all of us aren't ready to hang the lady that made a mistake. Don't take any responsibility for the mistake you made. Rant that anyone that doesn't whine with you is a pseudo expert, or callin' you a liar. I don't care. My bike is unbent, my lip is unsplit, & my wife hasn't been in any accidents.

Seems like you don't care, and are more than happy to rub in the fact your bike is "unbent". Can't say the same about the rider.
Sympathy is the ability to empathize with someone who is hurt. Real or perceived. I'd still help someone up from the ground even if it was their fault. Messing up your bike sucks. Cagers always win. U-Turns w/o blinkers (says witnesses) can kill folks.
I hope if this happens to you in the future, your fellow riders are a bit more compassionate with you. Deserving or not.

JINX: I did not post this for your pitty nor your sympathy. You should pat your self on the back for never having an accident. Hope you don't strain to hard. Of course I am sure some of the wording in my original post could have been taken/twisted in more than one way. And of course there is some burden to bear on my part. Obviously your mind is made up. The police officer felt the SUV operator was wrong and cited them. Yes I as the one most at risk will be more careful in the future.
I really have no idea what you expect someone to say when you firmly believe they are at fault. I am glad you are simply someone with an opinion. I wish you continued safe travels.
I will keep those interested posted on the progress I am making. Dealer says estimate will be done in the morning. Frame is tweaked for sure, more that just the tab. Painted parts are on order. Nationwides injury adjuster is coming in the morning. His attitude will dictate how long he stays.

If she is judged at fault which it seems is the case, and the adjuster tells me to save the receipt for the copay...well FU. I can tell you I had a friend settle a case where she had minor head bump from being rear ended. Here headaches never went away and now she has to deal with it and can't come back and do anything about it.
If you feel any head ache, I'd go get checked out....even if you don't...you should go to the Dr....maybe even one the attorney recommends.
