Default Comfortable Backrest for Road King?

I've only got about 320 miles on the new Road King and the dealer included a sissy bar for my wife but she finds it very far away from me and not real comfortable. I think her natural reaction is to lean forward to hang on to me so she has some lower back pain after only 20 miles or so from just not having the back support.

I know the look on the Ultras has the wife all packed in back there like a recliner, anything recommended for my wife to sit back there and relax and not be on pins and needles trying to lean forward hanging on to me?

You can always get a detachable tour pack and have that Ultra comfort for your wife. That is what I do most of the time when riding two up. Short of that a large back rest pad helps a lot. It will give her a little more to lean against. Most don't like the look of the larger, wider back rest pads but mine is only on when riding two up.

Although I don't find the Mustang seat to be the cat's meow, the backrest is one of the best I've ever had.

+1, its a great backrest, reasonably priced, looks much better than the HD one which is needlessly over-complicated.

have her just lean back and try not holding on to you. she may have to un-learn her habits but she'll eventually trust that she won't fall off... (unless you drive like a maniac?)

Ive got the "deluxe" model driver back rest along with the fixed passenger backrest.
I sit back on mine, it adjusts up and down and back or forward, so anyway when I sit back and use it my wife is tucked in just perfectly against hers and says she loves it and is really comfortable.
Maybe if you get a good backrest too and then sit back into it, you can close that gap and make her more comfy too.
