Mine used to do that all of the time. My head unit crapped out a while back and got a warranty refurb and it no longer seems to have the issue. Make you have shake to shuffle off in your iPod settings too.
My old unit, the speakers would shut off for no reason, switch modes for no reason and other issues.
ah well.. it was a thought. I guess all the more reason to use the Iron Cross iPod interface instead of the HD one and at less cost to boot.
to be fair, i've heard the on the move technologies (iron cross does not make it, they sell it) version has a weird glitch or two also....
whenever i have this problem, i've been able to get music back by hitting the playlist button, then switching playlists. but, i don't use playlists on my ipod so it just goes from standard mode, to 'unknown playlist' and starts playing... i'm gonna have to remember batman's solution and give that a try.
i've been able to minimize this by waiting until the headunit completely powers up before i hit the start button, but it still does it occasionally.
Hey Chris. Have you updated the firmware/software on your iPod interface?
You can get both Radio and iPod interface software updates here.
As far as I know I do. The last time it was at the dealer, (maybe 1-2 months ago), I asked them to check for any updates, and if needed, flash them in. When I picked up the bike they said they had checked and I was up to date. But thanks for posting the link anyhow. I'll keep it booked marked for future reference.

I would do this, but I have the PC-V and THAT has a weird glitch causing extra cranking to start if you let the bike power up all the way before hitting the start button. Dyno Jet knows about the issue but hasn't seen fit to fix it yet.
